The Plastic Resistance of Crystals
Australian Journal of Physics, 1960Evidence is presented in this paper to show that crystals present a pla8tic 'resistarwe to dislocation motion. This has been demonstrated by direct observations of dislocations in LiF crystals by Johnston and Gilman, and in Fe-Si crystals by Stein and Low.

A stochastic model of crystal plasticity
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1973The creep behaviour of many crystalline solids is found to be phenomenologically similar if comparisons are made at about the same fraction of the melting temperature (°K). These similarities appear to originate from the stochastic character of slip, which is controlled by a distribution of energy barriers to dislocation motion.

Dislocations and the Plasticity of Crystals
1996In an annealed crystal, dislocations are distributed under a three-dimensional network, named the Frank network. Dislocation densities in such samples are usually of the order of ρ F =1010 m−2, that is, IO10 m of line per m3 of sample*. As the average distance between dislocations of the Frank network, D (~ ρ F −1/2), then amounts to approximately 10 ...

Dislocations and the plasticity of ionic crystals
Materials Science and Technology, 1985Abstract Some recent developments in the dislocation theory of plastic deformation in ionic crystals are reviewed. It has been found that the Peierls force operates on slip planes of type {110} and {00l}, that interactions between dislocations and point defects are different on these planes, that point defects are produced by jogged dislocations, and ...
