Despite more than a century of organolead chemistry, all isolable organolead compounds have thus far been confined to Pb-C single bonds. Here we disclose the synthesis, structural authentication, and reactivity of room-temperature-stable plumbynes ([(CH2)(NDipp)]2PCPbAr; Ar = C6H3-2,6-Mes2 or C6H3-2,6-Trip2; Mes = mesityl; Trip = C6H2-2,4,6-iPr3)─the ...

Alpha A and alpha B-crystallins are a major protein component of the mammalian eye lens. Being a member of the small heat-shock protein family they possess chaperone-like function. The alpha-crystallins and especially alpha B is also found outside the lens having an extensive tissue distribution. Alpha B-crystallin is found to be over-expressed in many

A survey of crystalline solid lasers is presented. Crystalline host materials are described, pointing out their characteristics pertinent for laser systems. Rare earth and transition metal impurities operated as lasers are tabulated and the role of sensitization in increasing the overall efficiency of laser systems is described.

The nature of crystallinity of α-crystallin preparation of bovine lenses
Experimental Eye Research, 1972Abstract α-crystallin prepared by isoelectric precipitation yielded well-defined powder diagrams in X-ray diffraction. The reflections could be indexed as coming from a hexagonal primitive unit cell with the dimension of a = b = 8·17 A, c = 7·52 A and γ = 120°. The real unit cell is probably a multiple of this.
