Colossal Negative Magnetoresistance Effect in a La1.37Sr1.63Mn2O7 Single Crystal Grown by Laser-Diode-Heated Floating-Zone Technique

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
We have grown La 1.37 Sr 1.63 Mn 2 O 7 single crystals with a laser-diode-heated floating-zone furnace and studied the crystallinity, structure, and magnetoresistance (MR) effect by in-house X-ray Laue diffraction, X-ray ...

The influence of calcination temperature on structural and optical properties of ZnO nanoparticles via simple polymer synthesis route [PDF]

open access: yesScience of Sintering, 2017
A simple polymer synthesis was used to successfully synthesized Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles (ZnO NPs), and the influence of the different calcination temperature on the structural, and optical properties of the material was observed using several ...

Interstellar Silicate Dust in the z=0.89 Absorber Towards PKS 1830-211: Crystalline Silicates at High Redshift?

open access: yes, 2012
We present evidence of a >10-sigma detection of the 10 micron silicate dust absorption feature in the spectrum of the gravitationally lensed quasar PKS 1830-211, produced by a foreground absorption system at redshift 0.886. We have examined more than 100

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

On admissible tensor products in $p$-adic Hodge theory

open access: yes, 2012
We prove that if $W$ and $W'$ are two $B$-pairs whose tensor product is crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge-Tate), then there exists a character $\mu$ such that $W(\mu^{-1})$ and $W'(\mu)$ are crystalline (or semi-stable or de Rham or Hodge ...

Raman Spectroscopic Identification of Oxide Phases in a Corroded MgO–Steel Composite Anode Used in Aluminum Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Micro‐Raman spectroscopy is applied to characterize corrosion products in a recycled‐based MgO–316L steel composite anode after molten salt electrolysis. A depth‐dependent Fe–O/Fe–Al–O layer sequence of magnetite, hercynite, and an Al‐doped magnetite transition zone is identified.

Solvent-mediated chirality inversion in orthogonal hierarchical assembly of achiral carbene-anchored gold cluster

open access: yesNature Communications
Precisely constructing homochiral helical nanostructures from achiral molecules by non-covalent interactions remains challenging owing to the untraceable handedness control at different hierarchical levels.

The composition and size distribution of the dust in the coma of comet Hale-Bopp

open access: yes, 2005
We discuss the composition and size distribution of the dust in the coma of comet Hale-Bopp. We do this by fitting simultaneously the infrared emission spectrum measured by the infrared space observatory (ISO) and the measured degree of linear ...

Deterministic Detection of Single Ion Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam implantation with high detection efficiencies will enable the rapid and scalable fabrication of advanced spin‐based technologies such as qubits. This work presents the detection efficiencies of a wide range of ions implanted into solid‐state hosts, with efficiencies of >90% recorded for ion species and substrate combinations of ...
