An intelligent Proportional controller of a Seeded Batch Crystallizer

2020 17th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD), 2020
Crystallization process is used in a very wide range of industrial applications. However, highly nonlinear comportment of such process and the difficulties of characterizing several phenomenological effects makes difficult to find suitable operational procedures for producing required products.

Perceptions of the malleability of fluid and crystallized intelligence.

Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 2021
There is significant variation in lay people's beliefs about the nature of intelligence: Some believe that intelligence is relatively fixed and innate, whereas others view intelligence as more malleable and affected by experience. However, most studies in this domain do not explicitly define intelligence when probing about beliefs about intelligence ...

A Biomimetic Nociceptor Using Centrosymmetric Crystals for Machine Intelligence

Advanced Materials, 2023
AbstractPain sensation is a crucial aspect of perception in the body. Force‐activated nociceptors encode electrochemical signals and yield multilevel information of pain, thus enabling smart feedback. Inspired by the natural template, multi‐dimensional mechano‐sensing materials provide promising approaches for biomimetic nociceptors in intelligent ...

Intelligent decision support for protein crystal growth

IBM Systems Journal, 2001
Current structural genomics projects are likely to produce hundreds of proteins a year for structural analysis. The primary goal of our research is to speed up the process of crystal growth for proteins in order to enable the determination of protein structure using single crystal X-ray diffraction.

Relation of Creativity to Fluid and Crystallized Intelligence

The Journal of Creative Behavior, 2005
The threshold hypothesis regarding creativity and intelligence suggests that these two constructs are positively correlated except at the higher end of the IQ distribution, where they are unrelated. Much of the support for this hypothesis comes from comparisons of correlations within average and high-IQ groups.

Training and changes in fluid and crystallized intelligence

Contemporary Educational Psychology, 1988
Abstract In this study, the same battery of tests was administered three times: at the beginning of the experiment, at the end of training, and 1 year after the end of training. The control group was taught in the traditional way. The experimental group was given extensive training in creative problem solving over a 3-year period.

Artificial intelligence and employment: A look into the crystal ball

2023
This study provides evidence of the employment impact of AI exposure in European regions, addressing one of the many gaps in the emerging literature on AI's effects on employment in Europe. Building upon the occupation-based AI-exposure indicators proposed by Felten et al. (2018, 2019, 2021), which are mapped to the European occupational classification

Need for cognition is related to higher general intelligence, fluid intelligence, and crystallized intelligence, but not working memory

Journal of Research in Personality, 2013
Abstract Need for Cognition (NFC) is a trait-level measure of how much individuals enjoy engaging in effortful cognition. It has previously been reported to have a small to moderate association with aspects of intelligence but this has not been fully explored.

Openness to experience, general intelligence and crystallized intelligence: A methodological extension

Intelligence, 2005
Abstract Using a semi-partial correlation approach, Gignac, Stough, and Loukomitis [Gignac, G. E., Stough, C., & Loukomitis, S. (2004). Openness, intelligence, and self-report intelligence. Intelligence, 32, 133–143] examined the relationship between Openness and ‘g’ and residualized scores from Vocabulary and Information as estimates of crystallized
