Crystallographic texture determines mechanical properties of molluscan nacre
Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, 20131. IntroductionThe study of biologically controlled mineralisationrepresents an essential issue of modern science. Molluscannacre (mother-of-pearl) is one of the most studiednanocomposite materials. Nacre is found in the inner layerofsomeseashells, anditiscomposedof anaragonitephase(about 95vol.%) arranged in microscopic polygonal flattablets ...

Crystallographic Texture in Low Alloy TRIP Steel
Materials Science Forum, 2007Low alloy transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) steels have a complex microstructure consisting of ferrite, bainite and retained austenite. Their excellent mechanical properties are ascribed to the martensitic transformation of retained austenite during plastic deformation.

Crystallographic Textures Variation in Asymmetrically Rolled Steel
Materials Science Forum, 2010The crystallographic texture formation in low carbon steel during asymmetric rolling was studied experimentally and analysed numerically. Modelling of plastic deformation was done in two scales: in the macro-scale using the finite element method ( FEM) and in crystallographic scale using the polycrystalline deformation model (LW model).

Crystallographic texture change during grain growth
JOM, 2004This article outlines the importance of anisotropic interfacial properties for microstructure evolution. The anisotropic properties of interfaces profoundly affect the development of microstructure during thin film deposition, sintering, grain growth, and recrystallization, to name but a few processes.

Crystallographic Texture Measurement and Analysis
1986Abstract Crystallographic texture measurement and analysis is an important tool for correlating material properties with microstructural features. This article describes the general approach to quantifying crystallographic texture, namely, the collection of statistical data from grain measurements and subsequent analysis based on Euler ...

Crystallographic texturing in Nb3Sn multifilamentary superconducting composites
Journal of Applied Physics, 1980Crystallographic texturing in Nb3Sn composites, fabricated by both the external diffusion and the commercial bronze processes, has been investigated. In the external-diffusion-processed composite the as-drawn texture of the copper matrix contained ca. 55% 〈111〉 and 45% 〈100〉; after recrystallization at 650 °C for 16 h this changed to 70% 〈111〉 and 30% 〈

Crystallographic Texture Characterization of Inlaid Copper Interconnects
MRS Proceedings, 2001Developing faster integrated circuits places incredible demands on the interconnect system. The smaller feature sizes lead to excessive current densities, which in turn make the interconnect lines more susceptible to electromigration (EM) failure.[1] Studies have shown that EM performance can be improved by increasing the strength of the {111} texture ...

Incorporating crystallographic texture in deformation process simulations
JOM, 1997Computer simulations of metal forming provide an effective means to investigate the relationships between processing deformations and microstructure. Scalable parallel computer architectures enable the direct inclusion of the crystallographic-texture in finite elements used to discretize a workpiece.
