Crystallographic texture in ceramics and metals
Preferred crystallographic orientation, or texture, occurs almost universally, both in natural and man-made systems. Many components and devices in electronic and magnetic systems are fabricated from materials that have crystallographic texture. With the rapidly increasing use of thin film technology, where sharp axisymmetric crystallographic texture ...

Direct Evidence for Dynamic Phase Transformation during High Temperature Deformation in Ti-64 [PDF]
The microstructure of Ti-64 strongly affects the forming and in-service behaviour of aerospace components. The development of microstructure, including crystallographic texture, during thermomechanical processing involves changes caused by deformation ...

Freezing and Thawing of D2O/Sand Mixtures Investigated by Neutron Diffraction
Evolution ice diffraction patterns in mixtures of D2O with quartz sand of three different grain coarseness (100–600, 300–800 and 600–1200 μm) were studied under various temperature regimes by means of neutron diffraction method.

Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

The temperature dependence of fatigue behavior in nickel‐based superalloys is investigated through high‐resolution measurements of plastic localization. While increasing temperature reduces localization and enhances fatigue performance in René 88DT, Inconel 718 exhibits a sharp degradation at intermediate temperature due to intensified slip ...
