Computer simulation of microstructure development in powder-bed additive manufacturing with crystallographic texture

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Parts produced via laser powder-bed fusion additive manufacturing exhibit complex microstructures that depend on processing variables and often vary widely in crystallographic texture and grain morphology.

Crystallographic texture- and grain boundary density-independent improvement of corrosion resistance in austenitic 316L stainless steel fabricated via laser powder bed fusion

open access: yes, 2021
Improvement of corrosion resistance of austenitic 316L stainless steel via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is currently a prominent research topic; however, the effects of crystallographic texture and the related grain boundary density on the corrosion ...

Comparison of microstructure, crystallographic texture, and mechanical properties in Ti–15Mo–5Zr–3Al alloys fabricated via electron and laser beam powder bed fusion technologies

open access: yesAdditive Manufacturing, 2021
Depending on the application, establishing a strategy for selecting the type of powder bed fusion technology—from electron beam (EB-PBF) or laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF)—is important.

The Influence of Crystallographic Texture on DynamicRecrystallization [PDF]

open access: yesTexture, Stress, and Microstructure, 1997
The influence of a crystallographic texture (CT) on Dynamic Recrystallization (DRX) was investigated at T= 300℃ and 2.8 x 10-3 s-1 in Mg–5.8% Zn–0.65% Zr in detail. It was shown that mechanics and kinetics of DRX are in strong dependence on location of basal planes. Initial texture effects recrystallized grain size too.

Correlation between microstructure, texture, and magnetic induction in nonoriented electrical steels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Although it is well known that the magnetic induction of electrical steels at a given applied field critically depends on the microstructure and on the present crystallographic texture, there is still no quantitative model to describe this relation in ...

Formability of the 5754-aluminum alloy deformed by a modified repetitive corrugation and straightening process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Sheets of 5754-aluminum alloy processed by a modified repetitive corrugation and straightening (RCS) process were tested in order to measure their formability. For this purpose, forming limit curves were derived.
