Abstract The colloid vs crystalloid controversy has been debated ever since World War I. The two kinds of solutions have different physiological properties and different treatment roles. Crystalloids enter the interstitial space, due to the lack of intrinsic colloid osmotic pressure and less than 30% remains inside the intravascular space.
