Serum Electrolyte Changes in Foals Receiving Rhodococcus equi–Specific Hyperimmune Plasma

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Rhodococcus equi–specific hyperimmune plasma (Re‐HIP) is routinely administered to neonatal foals to help prevent rhodococcal pneumonia. In addition to pathogen‐specific immunoglobulins, frozen plasma products (FPPs) contain electrolytes that may exceed concentrations found in neonatal foal plasma.

Comparison of Sensory Block Levels with Crystalloid and Colloid Preloading in Spinal Anesthesia for Cesarean Delivery: A Randomized Controlled Study

open access: yesArchives of Anesthesia and Critical Care
Background: Spinal anesthesia is widely used for cesarean deliveries due to its effectiveness and safety. However, it often causes post-anesthesia hypotension, which poses risks to both the mother and baby. Fluid preloading is a common method to prevent

Warm blood cardioplegia versus cold crystalloid cardioplegia for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in patients with low ejection fraction

open access: yesAin Shams Journal of Anesthesiology, 2020
Background Patients with reduced ejection fraction (EF) undergoing CABG are more likely to develop postoperative morbidity and mortality. It is controversial about which cardioplegia solution, temperature, and method of administration ensure optimal ...

Effects of tempol on renal medullary tissue hypoxia in an ovine model of Gram‐negative septic acute kidney injury

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Renal arterial infusion of tempol (RAT) at the onset of Gram‐negative sepsis can prevent sepsis‐induced medullary tissue hypoxia and acute kidney injury (AKI). However, it is not known whether treatment with tempol at a clinically relevant time point of sepsis is similarly effective. Thus, we examined whether tempol can reverse renal medullary

Presentation of preload and afterload to isolated heart preparations

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend The heart can be isolated, and when this is so, it must be subjected to loading conditions. Over the past few decades, various loading methods have been developed to prescribe preload and afterload to isolated working‐heart preparations.

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, Volume 30, Issue 4, Page 460-470, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.
