Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

Flexoelectricity in Photoconversion: Fundamentals, Materials, and Outlooks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical bending of a flexible cantilever induces a strain gradient in the photoactive material. The resulting flexoelectric field couples with photovoltaic and photoconductive effects, modulating charge generation, separation, and collection. A comparative analysis of oxide perovskites, halide perovskites, and two‐dimensional materials is presented,

Cs-137 as a tracer of the catalan current

open access: yes, 1995
A number of nuclear power installations located in the north-western Mediterranean (NWM) area are known to enhance Cs-137 levels in various marine compartments. The nuclear fuel reprocessing plant at Marcoule (France) has been reported to originate a significant increase of Cs-137 in Rhone river waters and sediments because of the discharge of low ...
