Accidental Cs-137 contamination.

Radiology, 1985
Widespread use of radionuclides in medicine and industry poses the possibility of radiation accidents. We describe such an occurrence involving three industrial workers. The accident resulted from careless handling of a Cs-137 source. Evaluation of the Cs-137 whole body burden was carried out using stationary and scanning whole body counters.

Design studies for a Cs-137 irradiator

The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1961
Abstract Design studies for a 600 c caesium irradiator for genetic experiments are described. The six source rods, arranged in a cylinder around the sample, can be moved in and out on an iris diaphragm arrangement so as to give varying intensities at the sample.

Oscillatory Cs-137 Distribution Pattern in Scotch Pine Bark

Doklady Biological Sciences, 2023
The vertical distribution of the anthropogenic radionuclide Cs-137 in the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) bark was studied in two model trees in the radioactive contamination zone of the Bryansk region. Each tree was divided into 10-cm bars from the trunk base to a length of 17 m, and the bark with the bast was separated from each bar to obtain a ...

CS-137 concentration in reindeer and its fodder plants

Science of The Total Environment, 1989
Radionuclides, especially the long-lived 137Cs (physical half-life 30 years), are accumulated efficiently in the northern, subarctic, lichen-reindeer-man foodchain. Until the Chernobyl accident the fallout nuclides studied originated from nuclear weapons tests. After this accident some fresh fallout was deposited in Finnish Lapland.

Cs-137 in Arctic foxes (Alopex lagopus) on Svalbard

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2007
This study presents 137Cs muscle activity concentrations in Arctic foxes (Alopex lagopus) from Svalbard over a period of several years and discusses the transfer of 137Cs to Arctic foxes through likely predator--prey relationships. Mean 137Cs activity concentrations and 137Cs Tag values (per trapping season) ranged from 0.51+/-2.76 to 1.32+/-2.89 Bq/kg

Decontaminating liquid-containing Cs-137 by natural Pumice stone

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity
Radionuclides, emanating as consequential by-products of nuclear operations, are recognized as a potent source of environmentally deleterious contamination. In light of these concerns, the present investigation has employed unmodified natural pumice within a batch process to effectuate the removal of Cs-137 radionuclides from real liquid radioactive ...

Obsah Cs-137 v houbách

2015
The aim of this work is to compare the presence of Cs-137 in different kinds of mushrooms in selected locations using semiconductor gamma-ray spectrometry. Research question was determined: Does Cs-137 content amount vary depending on the fungal species? The first part deals with basic knowledge of ionizing radiation, which is important for the complex

Jeste li se susreli s Cs-137?

2022
