Activity Concentrations of Sr-90 and Cs-137 in Seawater and Sediment in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2020
In this study, we measured the activity concentrations of Cs-137 and Sr-90 in surface seawater and surface sediments at the Tra Co, Bach Long Vi, and Ky Anh locations in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam, from December 2018 to October 2019.

Ecological Half-Life of 137Cs in Fish

open access: yesEcologies, 2023
In this study, the long-term (i.e., over a 27-year period) dynamics of 137Cs content are presented for seven species of fish in both the cooling pond (CP) of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the Kaniv Reservoir (KR).

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Cracking the Code: Genotype–Phenotype Correlation Models in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Sarcoglycanopathies are among the most severe limb‐girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMD), though milder presentations have been described. These diseases are primarily caused by missense variants, but the limited predictability of their effect on protein maturation, complex formation, and transport has hindered reliable genotype ...

Short-term dispersal of Fukushima-derived radionuclides off Japan: modeling efforts and model-data intercomparison [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2013
The Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami that caused a loss of power at the Fukushima nuclear power plants (FNPP) resulted in emission of radioactive isotopes into the atmosphere and the ocean.

Improved field-portable system to measure Cs-137 in wildlife [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2020
We have developed an improved system to measure Cs-137 in wildlife at the Savannah River Site. This field-portable system consists of a shielded 5 cm by 10 cm by 40 cm NaI detector controlled by an Ametek Ortec Digibase. Measurement of an animal's radioactivity is made by placing the animal at a predefined location on the detector system for a one ...

ANALYSIS OF CS-137 TO CS-134 ACTIVITY RATIO FOR FAILED FUEL EXPOSURE ESTIMATION

open access: yes, 2018
The Cs-134 to Cs-137 activity ratio of the Cs-134 and Cs-137 fission products released from failed fuel rods into primary coolant is very useful to identify the exposure along with the fuel batch of the failed fuel.

Radiological Hazards of Cs-137 in Cultivated and Undisturbed Areas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The exposure of human beings to ionizing radiation from Cs-137 is a continuing and inescapable feature of life on Earth. Artificial radio nuclides are widely distributed in various geological formations and ecosystems such as rock, soil, groundwater, and

Predictive Ability of Plasma p‐tau217 for β‐Amyloid Status: A Prospective Multicenter Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma tau phosphorylated at threonine 217 (p‐tau217) measured with fully automated platforms has shown high accuracy for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis, but real‐world multicenter data remain limited. We aimed to validate the diagnostic performance of p‐tau217 for identifying AD pathology in a real‐world multicenter cohort ...
