Photochemistry in the inner layers of clumpy circumstellar envelopes: formation of water in C-rich objects and of C-bearing molecules in O-rich objects

open access: yes, 2010
A mechanism based on the penetration of interstellar ultraviolet photons into the inner layers of clumpy circumstellar envelopes around AGB stars is proposed to explain the non-equilibrium chemistry observed in such objects.

Detection of a Far-Infrared Bow-Shock Nebula Around R Hya: the First MIRIAD Results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present the first results of the MIRIAD (MIPS [Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer] Infra-Red Imaging of AGB [asymptotic giant branch] Dustshells) project using the Spitzer Space Telescope.

The chemical composition of the circumstellar envelopes around yellow hypergiant stars

open access: yes, 2007
The yellow hypergiant stars (YHGs) are extremely luminous and massive objects whose general properties are poorly known. Only two of this kind of star show massive circumstellar envelopes, IRC+10420 and AFGL2343.

Using shared online blogs to structure and support informal coach learning Part 1: A tool to scaffold reflection and communities of practice? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Coaches’ apparent preferences for informal and self-directed modes of learning have been highlighted in the literature. Consequently, there is a need for innovative coach education approaches that complement these clearly preferred, informal routes, and ...

MSCM: A geomagnetic model derived from Swarm, CSES, and MSS-1 satellite data and the evolution of the South Atlantic Anomaly

open access: yesEarth and Planetary Physics
Measurements from geomagnetic satellites continue to underpin advances in geomagnetic field models that describe Earth’s internally generated magnetic field. Here, we present a new field model, MSCM, that integrates vector and scalar data from the Swarm,

Entrepreneuriat Social et Participation Citoyenne

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Nonprofit and Social Economy Research, 2010
RÉSUMÉ L'entrepreneuriat social est un concept émergeant, notamment dans les sciences de l'administration. Pourtant, en dehors d'une pratique directoriale spécifique, il est aussi une forme de participation citoyenne trop méconnue.

Analytical Review of Cybersecurity for Embedded Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
To identify the key factors and create the landscape of cybersecurity for embedded systems (CSES), an analytical review of the existing research on CSES has been conducted. The common properties of embedded systems, such as mobility, small size, low cost,

Collective nostalgia: a group-level emotion that confers unique benefits on the group [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This research established collective nostalgia as a group-level emotion and ascertained the benefits it confers on the group. In Study 1, participants who reflected on a nostalgic event they had experienced together with ingroup members (collective ...

Congruency sequence effects without feature integration or contingency learning confounds.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
The congruency effect in distracter interference (e.g., Stroop) tasks is often reduced after incongruent trials, relative to congruent trials. It has been proposed that this congruency sequence effect (CSE) results from trial-by-trial adjustments of ...

Rates for Color Shifted Microlensing Events [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
If the objects responsible for gravitational microlensing (ML) of Galactic-bulge stars are faint dwarfs, then blended light from the lens will distort the shape of the ML light curve and shift the color of the observed star during the event.
