High-resolution melting (HRM) method for genotyping Kappa-Casein (CSN3) alleles in buffaloes
Molecular Biology ReportsThe kappa-casein gene (CSN3) plays a crucial role in milk protein composition, with allelic variants A (X1) and B (X2) influencing important dairy traits in buffaloes. Given the superior nutritional and technological properties of buffalo milk, accurate and efficient identification of these variants is crucial for genetic improvement programs. However,

Relationships between goat k-casein (CSN3) polymorphism and milk composition
2005The relationships between goat -casein (CSN3) variants and milk composition were studied in 1143 goats from 4 breeds (Camosciata, Frisa, Orobica, Verzasca). Individual milk samples were analysed by isoelectrofocusing. The effect of CSN3 type on protein and casein content was evident, BIEF variant being associated to higher levels of both traits.
