New Taxa and Combinations of Ctenitis from Guatemala
American Fern Journal, 1977Of all the genera I have studied in the preparation of "The Ferns and Fern Allies of Guatemala," Ctenitis has been one of the most troublesome. Despite Christensen's (1913, 1920) efforts to untangle the problems during his work on the comprehensive genus Dryopteris, the taxonomy remains quite confused.

A new species and a new combination in Ctenitis (Dryopteridaceae) from South America
Brittonia, 2017We describe a new species and propose a new combination of Ctenitis from South America. The new species is from Peru. We named it Ctenitis megalastriformis due to the resemblance to Megalastrum. The new combination corresponds to the species known until now as C. pedicellata. This species should be called C.

The effects of natural and artificial edges on phenology: A case study of Ctenitis submarginalis
Austral Ecology, 2020AbstractHabitat fragmentation increases forest edges, which in turn influence the microclimate to which ferns are exposed. Ferns do not depend on pollinators or dispersers, which make abiotic variables responsible for triggering the manifestation of their phenophases.

The Fern-Genera Tectaria, Heterogonium and Ctenitis in the Mascarene Islands
Kew Bulletin, 1983The information here presented is based on a study of many recent collections in comparison with the more fragmentary older ones, resulting in revisions of specific concepts and of synonymy. Ctenitis lorencei and C. canacae are described as new species and C. crinita (Poir.) Ching var. atrata and var. setacea as new varieties.
