Fleas of the genus Ctenocephalides that infest cats and dogs are known to harbor various pathogenic bacteria with potential zoonotic importance. This study aimed to isolate, characterize, and identify bacterial species from the gastrointestinal tracts of

Insecticide Resistance in Fleas
Fleas are the major ectoparasite of cats, dogs, and rodents worldwide and potential vectors of animal diseases. In the past two decades the majority of new control treatments have been either topically applied or orally administered to the host.

Prevalence and infection load dynamics of Rickettsia felis in actively feeding cat fleas. [PDF]
Rickettsia felis is a flea-associated rickettsial pathogen recurrently identified in both colonized and wild-caught cat fleas, Ctenocephalides felis. We hypothesized that within colonized fleas, the intimate relationship between R. felis and C.

ABSTRACT The ectoparasites of introduced rodents in mainland New Zealand forests include several species of cosmopolitan flea that may be important in the population dynamics and future biocontrol of rodents. We describe a 2‐rodent, 2‐flea system that showed little change over 20 years.

Summary Diatoms are a major phylum of microalgae, playing crucial ecological roles. They derive from secondary endosymbiosis, leading to a complex intracellular architecture. Their ability to store oil in lipid droplets (LDs) upon unfavourable conditions has raised interest for applications, in particular biofuels, yet Lipid Droplet (LD) biogenesis ...

Various hosts ofCtenocephalides felis strongylus
Infestation of exotic and indigenous breeds of cattle, sheep and goats with Ctenocephalides felis strongylus in a dairy farm is reported. Many of the fleas were engorged with fresh blood. Traps set up in the pens caught two bush rats which were heavily infested with the same flea species, most of which were also engorged with fresh blood.

Atypical Presentation of Cat‐Scratch Disease in a 30‐Year‐Old Female: A Case Study
ABSTRACT Cat‐scratch disease (CSD) is a zoonotic infection caused by the Gram‐negative bacterium Bartonella henselae, typically transmitted through the scratch or bite of a cat. This case report highlights an atypical presentation of CSD in a 30‐year‐old female pet groomer with prolonged fever, fatigue, and axillary lymphadenopathy.

An Insight into the Sialotranscriptome of the Cat Flea, Ctenocephalides felis
Saliva of hematophagous arthropods contains a diverse mixture of compounds that counteracts host hemostasis. Immunomodulatory and antiinflammatory components are also found in these organisms' saliva. Blood feeding evolved at least ten times within arthropods, providing a scenario of convergent evolution for the solution of the salivary potion. Perhaps

Horizontal transmission of Rickettsia felis between cat fleas, Ctenocephalides felis
Rickettsia felis is a rickettsial pathogen primarily associated with the cat flea, Ctenocephalides felis. Although laboratory studies have confirmed that R. felis is maintained by transstadial and transovarial transmission in C.
