Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.) in Europe

Aquatic Botany, 1977
The grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.) was introduced in Europe to improve fish production, but the possibilities for aquatic weed control are more emphasized now. From research in various countries it is concluded that the efficiency of the fish for weed control is high, that costs are low and that no severe side-effects are observed.

CpG oligodeoxynucleotides activate grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) macrophages

Developmental & Comparative Immunology, 2003
In mice and humans, B cells, antigen-presenting cells including monocytes, macrophages and dendritic cells and natural killer cells can be stimulated directly or indirectly by the bacterial DNA and oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) containing the CpG motifs (CpG DNA). Using head kidney macrophages of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) as an in vitro model,

Functional characterisation of interleukin 34 in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2019
Interleukin (IL) 34 plays an important role in regulating macrophage functions and inflammation process. IL-34 homologues have recently been discovered in fish but the functions have not been studied. In this study, an IL-34 homologue was identified in grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella and its bioactivities were investigated.

Artificial propagation of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon Idellus).

2020
Abstract Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) has become the main aquaculture species in freshwater areas in Vietnam. This study reviews grass carp biology, growth, habitat, mature age/spawning season, seed, culture, diseases, breeding trechniques, fry rearing and nursery trechniques, and hatcheries in Vietnam.

Identification and characterization of the TLR18 gene in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2015
Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play a critical role in the innate immune system. Although TLR18 is an important member of this family of receptors in fish, the role of the tlr18 gene in responses to pathogen infection is still unclear. In this study, we identified and characterized the grass carp tlr18 gene (gctlr18) to further clarify the function of ...

Characterization of oligopeptide transporter (PepT1) in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2013
The oligopeptide transporter (PepT1) is located on the brush-border membrane of the intestinal epithelium, and plays an important role in dipeptide and tripeptide absorptions from protein digestion. In this study, we cloned the PepT1 cDNA from grass carp and characterized its expression profile in response to dietary protein and feed additives (sodium ...

Grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) in ponds and cages in China.

2020
Abstract In China, broodstock conditioning of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) is conducted in earthen ponds at a density of 2,250 - 3,000 kg ha-1 and at a male to female ratio of 1:1 or 1:1.25. Vegetation such as duckweed and rye grass and small amounts of farm-made or commercial feed are given.

The grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella in the southern Western Siberia

Rybovodstvo i rybnoe hozjajstvo (Fish Breeding and Fisheries)
The natural area of grass carp Ctenopharyngodon idella includes the river basins of East Asia from the Amur to Xijiang. The habitat of grass carp is rivers, lakes and ponds. It spawning is in rivers with high flow rates, during pronounced rises in water levels, at temperatures above 18 °С (usually 22–24 °С). It feeds mainly on aquatic vegetation.
