Plant‐Derived Treatments for Monogenean Parasites in Farmed Fish: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Monogeneans are among the most problematic ectoparasites in finfish aquaculture. Plant‐derived compounds have been widely explored as therapeutic agents, yet their efficacy and safety have not been quantitatively synthesized across studies. This study provides a meta‐analysis of plant‐based treatments against monogeneans, integrating 453 in ...

Cladocers, Copepods and Rotifers in rice-fish culture handled with metsulfuron-methyl and azimsulfuron herbicides and carbofuran insecticide Cladocera, Copepoda e Rotifera em rizipiscicultura tratada com os herbicidas metsulfuron-metílico e azimsulfuron e o inseticida carbofuran

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2008
This study determined the effects of metsulfuron-methyl, azimsulfuron and carbofuran in communities: Cladocers, Copepods and Rotifers that are present in irrigated rice farming with the rice-fish system.

Morphology and Distribution of Olfactory Receptor Neurons in Southern Bluefin Tuna, Thunnus maccoyii (Teleostei): Implications for Olfactory Hydrodynamics

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 287, Issue 5, May 2026.
The number and distribution of olfactory receptors over the olfactory lamellar surface of four juvenile southern bluefin tuna were quantified using scanning electron microscopy. The microvillous olfactory receptors (mORN) are concentrated in the rostral region of the lamellar surface, while ciliated olfactory receptors (cORN), which are dominant in ...

Effects of NaHCO3 Alkalinity Stress on Micropterus salmoides

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT To provide guidance for the actual cultivation of Micropterus salmoides in saline alkali environment, the effects of NaHCO3 alkalinity stress on enzymatic activity, tissue structure and gut microbiota were investigated. The experimental groups consisted of Group 1 (no NaHCO3 added), Group 2 (10 mmol/L NaHCO3 alkalinity) and Group 3 (30 mmol/L ...

A Systematic Review of Biofloc Technology and Periphyton in Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) Aquaculture

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
Biofloc technology and periphyton‐based systems enhance the sustainable production of giant freshwater prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). A PRISMA‐guided review (2005 – 2024) shows that BFT improves survival (75 – 78 %) and feed efficiency, while periphyton supports natural productivity in grow‐out.

Dietary Probiotics Improve Growth, Immunity and Disease Resistance in Fish Against Aeromonas hydrophila Infection

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
Probiotics offer a promising alternative to antibiotics for managing Aeromonas hydrophila infections in aquaculture. Dietary supplementation of probiotics increases fish health, growth performance, and immune responses, while reducing antibiotic reliance in fish farming.

open access: yesHelminthologia, 2016
The trematode Amurotrema dombrowskajae Achmerow, 1959, is the type and the only species of the paramphistomoid genus Amurotrema Achmerow, 1959. This intestinal parasite of grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) was introduced with host to the Volga River ...

Dietary copper improves intestinal structural integrity in juvenile grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) probably related to its increased intestinal antioxidant capacity and apical junction complex

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition
This research evaluated the effects of copper (Cu) on intestinal antioxidant capacity and apical junctional complex (AJC) in juvenile grass carp. A total of 1080 healthy juvenile grass carp (11.16 ± 0.01 g) were fed six diets including different dosages ...
