The Effect of Natural Dissolved Organic Carbon on the Acute Toxicity of Copper to Larval Freshwater Mussels (\u3cem\u3eGlochidia\u3c/em\u3e) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The present study examined the effect of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), both added and inherent, on Cu toxicity in glochidia, the larvae of freshwater mussels.

Enhanced spin-flip scattering at the surface of copper in lateral spin valves

open access: yes, 2009
We performed non-local electrical measurements of a series of Py/Cu lateral spin valve devices with different Cu thicknesses. We show that both the spin diffusion length of Cu and the apparent spin polarization of Py increase with Cu thickness.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Rare Benign Focal Lesions of the Liver: Report of 2 Cases and Literature Review

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastroenterology
Introduction: Benign lesions of the liver are very common findings, usually randomly discovered, especially during examinations for other indications. The frequent use of imaging modalities may be responsible for the statistical increase in the incidence

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Estimación y modelación de emisiones de calderas de una comercializadora de combustibles

open access: yesTecnociencia Chihuahua
En el proceso de comercialización de combustibles, una de las fuentes de emisión de contaminantes  (continuas y discontinuas) proviene de la combustión derivada de la generación de electricidad y calor, venteo y quema de hidrocarburos y emisiones ...

Epitaxial growth of Cu (001) on Si (001): Mechanisms of orientation development and defect morphology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
We describe the evolution of microstructure during ultrahigh vacuum ion beam sputter deposition of Cu (001) at room temperature on hydrogen-terminated Si (001). In situ reflection high energy electron diffraction indicates growth of an epitaxial Cu (001)

Clinical Validation of Plasma p‐217tau in Neurological Diseases

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Plasma p‐217tau is a minimally invasive but specific biomarker for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its disease specificity remains to be clinically evaluated. We validated the reliability of the p‐217tau biomarker in 12 other neurological diseases.

Effect of surface modification of electrodes on charge injection and dielectric characteristics of propylene carbonate

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2019
Space charge injected into a liquid dielectric by an electrode under an impulse voltage causes the electric field to be distorted, which affects the dielectric's insulation performance.

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.
