6U CubeSat commercial applications
The Aeronautical Journal, 2012AbstractRecent work by Tsitas and Kingston(1) has demonstrated that an 8kg 6U CubeSat can be designed to perform Earth observation missions equivalent to those of 50-150kg microsatellites. Their design is reviewed and its commercial potential is compared to the 156kg RapidEye spacecraft. Three other commercial applications of this design are described.

CubeSats for infrared astronomy
Space Telescopes and Instrumentation 2018: Optical, Infrared, and Millimeter Wave, 2018This paper investigates the potential role of small satellites, specifically those often referred to as CubeSats, in the future of infrared astronomy. Whilst CubeSats are seen as excellent (and inexpensive) ways to demonstrate and improve the readiness of critical (space) technologies of the future they also potentially have a role in solving key ...

Astrobiology research with cubesats; Cubesats: Powerful science platforms for space explorations
2013The improvements in the miniaturization of spacecraft and spacecraft subsystems have resulted in a wide variety of small satellites and nanosatellites. This has opened the door to inexpensive, lightweight, small and !exible satellites and missions with various scienti"c applications. One such application could be the use of CubeSats for astrobiological
