Design and Analysis of Compression–Torsion Coupling Metamaterials Using the Golden Section Method

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel compression–torsion metamaterial is engineered using inclined rods and symmetry breaking. To optimize its torsional performance, the golden section method is employed. The mechanical response of the metamaterial is validated through both numerical analysis and experimental validation.

A novel approach to construct optical solitons solutions of complex Ginzburg–Landau equation with five distinct forms of nonlinearities

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
This paper presents a recently introduced innovative approach for analyzing closed-form solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations. While various methods exist for deriving closed-form solutions to many nonlinear evolution equations ...

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

New AI‐Assisted Approach for Expanding the Solution Space: Application to Lattice Structure Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an innovative framework for designing structured materials by ex panding the design space through reparameterization of qualitative variables into continuous structural descriptors. Combined with machine‐learning‐based prediction and multi‐objective optimization, the approach enables the discovery of novel lattice architectures ...

Elastic Properties and Thermal Expansion Behavior of a Polycrystalline VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The high‐entropy alloy (HEA) V20Mn20Fe20Co20Ni20 (composition in at.%) can be made single‐phase face‐centered cubic (FCC) when annealed above 1338 K followed by water quenching. In this state, the alloy exhibits the greatest strength‐ductility combination of any quinary single‐phase FCC HEA.

Solution of Cubic and Quartic Equations

open access: yesFormalized Mathematics, 2009
Solution of Cubic and Quartic Equations In this article, the principal n-th root of a complex number is defined, the Vieta's formulas for polynomial equations of degree 2, 3 and 4 are formalized. The solution of quadratic equations, the Cardan's solution of cubic equations and the Descartes-Euler solution of quartic equations in terms of their ...

On the Effect of Creep on Local Lattice Orientation in Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloy Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
During creep of a single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloy, the overall crystal orientation is observed to remain constant while the microstructure evolves. Despite the lack of macroscopic rotation, small (<1°) rotations are observed on the submicron size scale and are accommodated by counteracting rotations over the scale of several micrometers.

A system of cubic diophantine equations

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 1977
AbstractIn this paper we solve x3 + y + 1 − xyz = 0 completely and study a pair of simultaneous cubic diophantine equations (1) x | y3 + 1 and y | x3 + 1, where x and y are positive integers. The main result in this paper is that there exist an infinite number of sequences such that x and y satisfy (1) if and only if they are consecutive terms of one ...
