Response of Melon Fly (Diptera: Tephritidae) to Weathered SPLAT-Spinosad-Cue-Lure
Journal of Economic Entomology, 2010Studies were conducted in Hawaii to measure attraction of male melon fly, Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett) (Diptera: Tephritidae), to SPLAT-Cue-Lure (C-L) and SPLAT-Melo-Lure (M-L) (raspberry ketone formate). Direct field comparisons of SPLAT-C-L and SPLAT-M-L at low (5%) and high (20%) concentrations indicated few differences in attraction over a 15-

Methyl eugenol (ME) and cue-lure (C-L) traps with solid lure dispensers were deployed in areas with low and high populations of oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis (Hendel), and melon fly, Bactrocera cucurbitae (Coquillett), respectively. In low-density areas, standard Jackson traps or Hawaii Fruit Fly Areawide Pest Management (AWPM) traps with FT ...

Abstract Volatilization of cue-lure, methyl eugenol, and trimedlure, the synthetic lures for male melon flies, Dacus cucurbitae Coquillett, oriental fruit flies, D. dorsalis Hendel, and Mediterranean fruit flies, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), respectively, was found to take place at different rates: cue-lure showed a low level of volatility ...

Bactrocera curvipennis (Froggatt) is a polyphagous pest fruit fly endemic to New Caledonia that is weakly attracted to the male lure cue-lure (CL). Effective male lures are important for the monitoring and management of numerous pest species of Dacinae fruit flies.

Bactrocera is a speciose genus of tephritid fruit fly that includes several important pests of fruits and vegetables. Detection and control of these pestiferous species rely heavily upon male attractants or lures, with different Bactrocera species responding to either methyl eugenol (ME) or raspberry ketone (RK; or its man-made analogue cue lure, CL ...

Male lures are plant chemicals used in pest management to trap fruit flies, but they also have unique biological effects on fruit flies. This project explored this relationship in two Australian pest species, providing insight into the effects of these lures at the genetic level and identifying specific genes of interest.

Using a Circular Corridor to Characterize the Attractive Cues of Lures for a Shoal of Zebrafish
2019The previous chapter presented the results of an experiment performed in order to isolate and model the effect of various stimuli that the robotic device could generate on its attractiveness to a fish shoal. We showed that, mostly, the robot’s movements and the lure shape had an effect on the acceptance of the robot.

Abstract The structure of cue-lure [4-(p-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butanone acetate], a potent attractant for the male melon fly, Dacus cucurbitae Coquillett, was systematically altered by replacing atoms of hydrogen with deuterium in various parts of the molecule.

The effect of trap design, trap color, and isothiocyanate (NCS) lures on the capture of the pollen beetle, Meligethes aeneus, was studied in field experiments. Unbaited yellow water and adhesive traps were equally attractive. A small sticky card trap with a yellow upper face, mounted at 45° to the vertical, was attractive throughout the year, but ...

Upwind anemotaxis in response to cue‐lure by the Queensland fruit fly, Bactrocera tryoni
Physiological Entomology, 1999Summary Movements of mature male Bactrocera tryoni (Froggatt) (Diptera: Tephritidae) were observed individually in a wind tunnel under conditions of ‘cue‐lure with wind’, ‘cue‐lure with no wind’, ‘wind only’ and ‘no wind or cue‐lure’.
