prag01, a novel deltamethrin-resistance-associated gene from Culex pipiens pallens
Parasitology Research, 2010The prag01 gene (GenBank accession no. EU073017) was cloned from Culex pipiens pallens. An open reading frame of 270 bp was found to encode a putative 89-amino-acid protein which has the highest homology with Culex quinquefasciatus and Anopheles funestus.

Effect of chlorfenapyr on cypermethrin-resistant Culex pipiens pallens Coq mosquitoes
Acta Tropica, 2015Chlorfenapyr is a promising pyrrole insecticide with a unique mechanism of action that does not confer cross-resistance to neurotoxic insecticides. The effect of chlorfenapyr on pyrethorid-resistant Culex pipiens pallens Coq (Diptera: Culicidae) has not been fully investigated under laboratory conditions. In this study, cypermethrin-resistant C.

Autogenous egg development in anautogenous Culex pipiens pallens mosquitoes
Journal of Insect Physiology, 1994Abstract Ovaries of 1- to 4-day-old adult anautogenous Culex pipiens pallens mosquitoes were transplanted into newly-emerged females of the same species. Ovaries taken from 1-day-old females were never activated. However, ovaries taken from 2-day-old adults were all activated and 12% matured eggs “autogenously”.

Larvicidal activity of lignans from Phryma leptostachya L. against Culex pipiens pallens
Parasitology Research, 2011The larvicidal activity of crude petroleum ether, ethyl acetate, and methanol extracts of the whole plants of Phryma leptostachya L. was assayed for its toxicity against the early fourth instar larvae of Culex pipiens pallens. The larval mortality was observed after 24 h of exposure.

Laboratory and Field Evaluation of Multiple Compound Attractants to Culex pipiens pallens
Journal of Medical Entomology, 2018Efforts to develop mosquito attractants using vertebrate host volatiles have been well made under laboratory conditions but their attractiveness to mosquitoes in the wild still needs to be evaluated. In the present study, we evaluated the attraction of female Culex pipiens pallens Coquillett (Diptera: Culicidae) to 11 individual chemical compounds ...

Carbonic anhydrase II confers resistance to deltamethrin in Culex pipiens pallens
Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 2017AbstractCarbonic anhydrases (CAs) are metabolic enzymes that regulate the physiological equilibrium in a variety of organisms. In this study, we investigated the function of CA II in Culex pipiens pallens using real‐time quantitative polymerase chain reaction and double‐stranded RNA injection.

TRE1 and CHS1 contribute to deltamethrin resistance in Culex pipiens pallens
Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 2019AbstractCuticular resistance, characterized by decreased epidermal penetration, has been reported on highly pyrethroid‐resistant mosquitoes. In this study, we examined the role of genes in the chitin biosynthetic pathway in the context of deltamethrin‐resistant (DR) Culex pipiens pallens. We found that expression of the trehalase (TRE1) gene and chitin

[Overwintering surveillance of Culex pipiens pallens in Shandong Province].
Zhongguo xue xi chong bing fang zhi za zhi = Chinese journal of schistosomiasis control, 2018To understand the ecological habits of Culex pipiens pallens in Shandong Province in winter. From December 2015 to January 2016, the overwintering conditions of Cx. pipiens pallens were investigated in Shandong Province. In Shandong Province, in rural districts, the overwintering places of Cx. pipiens pallens were basements, wells and caves; and in urban

By comparing the diapause responses between locally hibernating species, C. pipiens pallens, and C. tritaeniorhynchus the overwintering way of which is yet unknown, we found the relative identities of these 2 species in their ovarian diapause criteria, change of the mid-gut and the behaviour of refusing blood feeding.

[Effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme on reproduction of Culex pipiens pallens].
Zhongguo xue xi chong bing fang zhi za zhi = Chinese journal of schistosomiasis control, 2023To investigate the role of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in the reproduction of Culex pipiens pallens, so as to provide insights into selection of targets for controlling mosquito vector populations.Cx. pipiens pallens was collected from Tangkou County, Shandong Province in 2009. Female and male mosquitoes were selected at 72 hours post-eclosion,
