What’s Eating You? Mosquitoes (Culicidae)
Cutis, 2022Mosquito bites cause a variety of reactions ranging from pruritic papules to severe systemic hypersensitivity reactions. The salivary glands of mosquitoes have been found to contain more than 70 different allergens. Herein, we describe the pathophysiology and clinical appearance of mosquito bite reactions as well as proper management of this condition.

2023The fauna of blood-sucking mosquitoes is studied in Kiev. 27 species and subspecies belonging to 5 genera are found: Anopheles (2 species), Culiseta (2), Mansonia (1), Aedes (18), Culex (4). 18 of species are known as real or potential vectors of human disease agents.

Susceptibility to DDT, BHC, parathion, and dipterex was studied in 14 species of mosquito larvae of more than 60 populations in different areas of the Dnieper basin and the Crimea. The evaluation of the susceptibility levels was made by the dosage-time method in field tests.
