Effects of DEM Resolution on Hectare‐Scale Potential Soil Loss Modelling: A Case Study Using a Spatially Distributed Erosion Model

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 10, October 2026.
DEM resolution alters not only mean modelled soil loss but also its spatial redistribution at hectare scale. Using a spatially distributed erosion model, we show that changes in cell size modify slope, flow‐path length and run‐off concentration, producing non‐linear changes in erosion and deposition patterns.

Supporting Digital Agriculture Through GeoAI: A Crop Type Dataset of Four Food Basket Crops in Rwanda

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 13, Issue 4, October 2026.
A harmonised, GeoAI‐ready crop type dataset comprising 2739 georeferenced field points and 914 labelled polygons across four Rwandan districts addresses critical data gaps for model calibration and validation. This open, agronomically rich dataset strengthens digital agriculture, crop monitoring and food security efforts in Rwanda and sub‐Saharan ...

Preharvest supplemental lighting enhances productivity and modulates postharvest quality in hydroponically grown Apulian unripe melon ‘Scopatizzo’ ( Cucumis melo L.)

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 13, Page 7666-7681, October 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND Preharvest light management is increasingly used to enhance yield and fruit quality in soilless systems, yet its effects on unripe melon fruits remain poorly understood. This study evaluated the impact of supplemental red–blue light‐emitting diode (LED) lighting applied during cultivation in a closed‐cycle hydroponic system on ...

Organoids: Current Applications and Future Directions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Organoids are three‐dimensional multicellular structures derived from stem cells or primary tissues that recapitulate key structural and functional features of native organs. Advances in stem cell biology, biomaterials, and bioengineering have established organoids as powerful platforms for studying human development and disease mechanisms, drug ...

Relational knowing as method and practice

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 10, Page 3585-3600, October 2026.
Abstract This paper seeks to contribute to (re)building the capacity for embodied, place‐based relational knowing, transforming how we know and thus what we know. What is known, or sought to be known, is relations. How we know these relations is by already being in it: breathing, sensing, moving, listening, responding, affecting and being affected ...
