Effect of medium-pH and MES on adventitious root formation from stem disks of apple

open access: yes, 2008
We have examined the effect of medium-pH on rooting using 1-mm slices cut from stems of apple microshoots. Before autoclaving, the pH of the rooting medium was set at various pH values between 4.5 and 8.0. During autoclaving, the pH drifted in particular

Enraizamento in vitro do morangueiro (Fragaria x ananassa Duchesne) em diferentes concentrações do meio MS In vitro strawberry (Fragaria x ananassa Duchesne) rooting in different MS medium concentrations

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

In vitro soil-less (IVS) rooting medium

open access: yes, 2006
The principle hypothesis of this thesis is that hypoxia, in agar-based media, compromises rooting in vitro. From a practical point of view this is important because most plant tissue culture activities require the material to be successfully acclimatised

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Involvement of phospholipase A2 in the release of silymarin to the culture medium of Silybum marianum cell suspensions

open access: yes, 2014
In suspension cell cultures of Silybum marianum, methyl jasmonate (MJ) stimulated the accumulation and release of silymarin (Sm) to the culture medium. This study shows that phospholipase A2 (PLA2) plays a role in the release of Sm in elicited cultures ...
