Parameter Estimation of Weibull Distribution Based on Second-Kind Statistics
The log-cumulant estimator is proposed to estimate the parameters of Weibull distribution based on second-kind statistics. With the explicit closed form expressions, the log-cumulant estimator is computationally efficient.

Semiclassical noise beyond the second cumulant
We show how the semiclassical Langevin method can be extended to calculations of higher-than-second cumulants of noise. These cumulants are affected by indirect correlations between the fluctuations, which may be considered as "noise of noise." We ...

Cumulant approach to the low-temperature thermodynamics of many-body systems
Current methods to describe the thermodynamic behavior of many-particle systems are often based on perturbation theory with an unperturbed system consisting of free particles.

The universality class of the dynamic magnetisation-reversal transition, induced by a competing field pulse, in an Ising model on a square lattice, below its static ordering temperature, is studied here using Monte Carlo simulations.

Mixed Far-Field and Near-Field Source Localization Algorithm via Sparse Subarrays
Based on a dual-size shift invariance sparse linear array, this paper presents a novel algorithm for the localization of mixed far-field and near-field sources.

Quasiclassical Hamiltonians for large-spin systems
We propose a method for obtaining effective classical Hamiltonians \cal H for many-body quantum spin systems with large spins. This method uses the coherent-state representation of the partition function Z and the cumulant expansion in powers of 1/S. For

Non-uniform Estimates in the Approximation by the Irwin Law
We consider an approximation of a cumulative distribution function F(x) by the cumulative distributionfunction G(x) of the Irwin law. In this case, a function F(x) can be cumulative distribution functions of sums (products) ofindependent (dependent ...

Collective flow and multiparticle azimuthal correlations [PDF]
The measurement of azimuthal distributions in nucleus-nucleus collisions relies upon the assumption that azimuthal correlations between particles result solely from their correlation with the reaction plane (i.e. flow).

Topological Susceptibility of the Gluon Plasma in the Stochastic-Vacuum Approach
Topological susceptibility of the SU(3) gluon plasma is calculated by accounting for both factorized and non-factorized contributions to the two-point correlation function of topological-charge densities.
