Minimax Estimation of a Cumulative Distribution Function

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1973
In this paper the minimax estimators of a cumulative distribution function $F$ is obtained for four types of loss functions. The result is quite general in that no restrictions are imposed on the unknown $F$. Moreover, the estimates do not depend upon the weight function used in the definition of the loss functions.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Hypergeometric Functions on Cumulative Distribution Function

open access: yesAsian Research Journal of Mathematics, 2019
Exponential functions have been extended to Hypergeometric functions. There are many functions which can be expressed in hypergeometric function by using its analytic properties. In this paper, we will apply a unified approach to the probability density function and corresponding cumulative distribution function of the noncentral chi square variate to ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Hybrid Copula Estimators

open access: yes, 2014
An extension of the empirical copula is considered by combining an estimator of a multivariate cumulative distribution function with estimators of the marginal cumulative distribution functions for marginal estimators that are not necessarily equal to ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

The Exponentiated Hypoexponential Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA)
In this paper we study the Exponentiated Hypoexponential Distribution with different parameters. The distribution added a parameter to the n parameters of the Hypoexponenial distribution.

Spline histogram method for reconstruction of probability density function of clusters of galaxies

open access: yes, 2003
We describe the spline histogram algorithm which is useful for visualization of the probability density function setting up a statistical hypothesis for a test.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Corrections to "Unified Laguerre polynomial-series-based distribution of small-scale fading envelopes''

open access: yes, 2010
In this correspondence, we point out two typographical errors in Chai and Tjhung's paper and we offer the correct formula of the unified Laguerre polynomial-series-based cumulative distribution function (cdf) for small-scale fading distributions.
