Entanglement entropy and particle number cumulants of disordered fermions [PDF]
We study the entanglement entropy and particle number cumulants for a system of disordered noninteracting fermions in $d$ dimensions. We show, both analytically and numerically, that for a weak disorder the entanglement entropy and the second cumulant (particle number variance) are proportional to each other with a universal coefficient.

Personal risk factors for carpal tunnel syndrome in female visual display unit workers
Objectives: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common nerve entrapment syndrome, which since the beginning of the seventies has been linked to the keyboard and visual display unit (VDU). The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence

Prevalence and incidence of postpartum depression and environmental factors: the IGEDEPP cohort [PDF]
Background: IGEDEPP (Interaction of Gene and Environment of Depression during PostPartum) is a prospective multicenter cohort study of 3,310 Caucasian women who gave birth between 2011 and 2016, with follow-up until one year postpartum. The aim of the current study is to describe the cohort and estimate the prevalence and cumulative incidence of early ...

Ott-Antonsen ansatz is the only admissible truncation of a circular cumulant series [PDF]
The cumulant representation is common in classical statistical physics for variables on the real line and the issue of closures of cumulant expansions is well elaborated. The case of phase variables significantly differs from the case of linear ones; the relevant order parameters are the Kuramoto-Daido ones but not the conventional moments.

Claustrum Volume Is Reduced in Multiple Sclerosis and Predicts Disability
ABSTRACT Objective The claustrum is a small, thin structure of predominantly gray matter with broad connectivity and enigmatic function. Little is known regarding the impact of claustrum pathology in multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods This study assessed whether claustrum volume was reduced in MS and whether reductions were associated with specific ...

Using Convolutional Variational Autoencoders to Predict Post-Trauma Health Outcomes from Actigraphy Data [PDF]
Depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are psychiatric conditions commonly associated with experiencing a traumatic event. Estimating mental health status through non-invasive techniques such as activity-based algorithms can help to identify successful early interventions.

The benefits of structural disorder in natural cellular solids [PDF]
Structural cellular materials in nature, such as wood, trabecular bone, corals, and dentin combine complex biological functions with structural roles, such as skeletal support and impact protection1,2. They feature complex structural hierarchies from nano- to macroscale that enable optimization of both strength and toughness (flaw tolerance ...
