Correspondence of MRI and nTMS With EDSS in Multiple Sclerosis: Longitudinal Follow‐Up Study
ABSTRACT Objectives Considering the characteristics of multiple sclerosis (MS) disease and its impact on motor disability, this study aims to assess the functional integrity of the corticospinal tract by examining motor evoked potentials (MEPs), Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) scores, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lesion counts, and ...

Multifractality in a broad class of disordered systems [PDF]
We study multifractality in a broad class of disordered systems which includes, e.g., the diluted x-y model. Using renormalized field theory we analyze the scaling behavior of cumulant averaged dynamical variables (in case of the x-y model the angles specifying the directions of the spins) at the percolation threshold. Each of the cumulants has its own

Complex PTSD among treatment-seeking veterans with PTSD
Background: In the ICD-11 hierarchical classification structure, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (CPTSD) are separate and distinct but also ‘sibling’ disorders, meaning that the diagnoses follow from the parent category of traumatic

Reduced peripheral expression of the glucocorticoid receptor α isoform in individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder: a cumulative effect of trauma burden. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a serious psychiatric condition that was found to be associated with altered functioning of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and changes in glucocorticoid (GC) responsiveness.

A 14‐Year Study of Serum Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein and Total Tau in Premanifest Huntington's
ABSTRACT There is a pressing need for blood biomarkers that can identify Huntington's disease (HD) gene carriers' proximity to manifest disease. We previously examined serial serum neurofilament light (NfL) concentrations in 21 premanifest HD gene carriers and 14 controls over 14 years, finding that NfL demonstrates high prognostic value and distinct ...

VOCSMAT: a connectionist-inspired treatment proposal for relational traumas [PDF]
Psychological traumas are thought to be present in a wide range of conditions, including post-traumatic stress disorder, disorganised attachment, personality disorders, dissociative identity disorder and psychosis. This work presents a new psychotherapy for psychological traumas, based on a functional model of the mind, built with elements borrowed ...

Lévy Distribution of Single Molecule Line Shape Cumulants in Low Temperature Glass [PDF]
We investigate the distribution of single molecule line shape cumulants, $\kappa_1,\kappa_2,...$, in low temperature glasses based on the sudden jump, standard tunneling model. We find that the cumulants are described by L\'evy stable laws, thus generalized central limit theorem is applicable for this problem.

The Capability of Large Language Models to Measure Psychiatric Functioning [PDF]
The current work investigates the capability of Large language models (LLMs) that are explicitly trained on large corpuses of medical knowledge (Med-PaLM 2) to predict psychiatric functioning from patient interviews and clinical descriptions without being trained to do so.

Association between delirium in the intensive care unit and subsequent neuropsychiatric disorders
Background Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) are known to be at increased risk of developing delirium, but the risk of subsequent neuropsychiatric disorders is unclear.

Metabolic Consequences of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) may have metabolic disruption, which can contribute to adverse long‐term outcomes, for multiple reasons. Patients with RA appear to have a higher risk of sarcopenia, type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, and hypertension. Systemic inflammation in RA can cause a “lipid paradox,” with reduced low‐
