Cluster of Pulmonary Infections Caused byCunninghamella bertholletiaein Immunocompromised Patients [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 2000
Cunninghamella bertholletiae is a rare cause of pulmonary mucormycosis. We describe a cluster of invasive pulmonary infections caused by C. bertholletiae in 4 immunocompromised patients that occurred during a 2-year period at 1 center. Three of the patients were receiving antifungal prophylaxis with itraconazole.

Calcineurin as a Multifunctional Regulator: Unraveling Novel Functions in Fungal Stress Responses, Hyphal Growth, Drug Resistance, and Pathogenesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Calcineurin signaling plays diverse roles in fungi in regulating stress responses, morphogenesis and pathogenesis. Although calcineurin signaling is conserved among fungi, recent studies indicate important divergences in calcineurin-dependent cellular ...

In vitro activity of combinations of zinc chelators with amphotericin B and posaconazole against six Mucorales species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Mucormycosis is an emerging disease with high mortality rates. Few antifungal drugs are active against Mucorales. Considering the low efficacy of monotherapy, combination-therapy strategies have been described.
