Future exploration of Venus (post-Pioneer Venus 1978) [PDF]

open access: yes
A comprehensive study was performed to determine the major scientific unknowns about the planet Venus to be expected in the post-Pioneer Venus 1978 time frame. Based on those results the desirability of future orbiters, atmospheric entry probes, balloons,

The Effect of Closed‐Loop Auditory Stimulation on Memory Consolidation and Sleep Physiology in an Ecological Setting

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Slow wave sleep plays a crucial role in overnight memory consolidation, with slow oscillations serving as a critical mechanism. Recent studies have identified closed‐loop auditory stimulation as an effective method to enhance slow oscillatory activity during slow wave sleep, thereby facilitating memory consolidation.

Substitution of Fe3+ into anorthite in oxidized, Al‐deficient ferrobasaltic systems with implications for the petrogenesis of angrite meteorites

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Angrite meteorites are critically silica‐undersaturated igneous rocks with high Ca/Al and Fe/Mg, along with depletion in volatile lithophile elements Na and K such that they crystallize anorthite along with olivine and calcic pyroxene. The anorthite in angrites contains substantial Fe, and in NWA 1670 and NWA 1296, it is present at major ...

Root surface biomodification in periodontal therapy: Biological rationale and clinical applications

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Regenerative periodontal therapy aims to form new cementum, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone, all sealed by gingival tissue. The root surface acts as the wound margin during this regeneration process. Root surface biomodification (root conditioning/root decontamination), therefore, seems instrumental in promoting surface decontamination

Reconceptualizing Crisis: An Empirically Based Investigation

open access: yesSociological Inquiry, EarlyView.
Crisis is predominantly characterized in terms of its detrimental consequences. Drawing on in‐depth semi‐structured interviews in Melbourne and Taipei, the article provides a critical and distinctive understanding of crisis. Crisis is conceptualized here as a disruptive prefiguring of new possibilities, both agentic and structural.

How do physiological networks respond to normobaric hypoxia and isometric exercise?

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract The dynamics of physiological systems are impacted by both exercise and hypoxia. Network models can be used to map the interactions between various physiological components in environmental physiology and exercise using the concepts of information theory.
