Genetic Variation for Economically Important Traits in Cupressus lusitanica in New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Increasing productivity and tolerance against cypress canker disease is an important goal in the Mexican white cypress breeding program in New Zealand, and screening has been in place since 1983. Cypress canker disease is caused by Seiridium cardinale and Seiridium cupressi, the current study presents the results of two progeny trials within the ...

Yield of Cupressus lusitanica in Ethiopia. [PDF]

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1993
Yield of Mill. was modelled by predicting the diameter distribution of trees at given stand ages. The beta distribution was used as a theoretical distribution. The models used for the calculation of diameter distribution were based on 66 temporal sample plots with varying age, site and stand density.

Applicability evaluation of Cupressus lusitanica for pulp production [PDF]

open access: yesMaderas. Ciencia y tecnología, 2016
This paper aimed to study Cupressus lusitanica wood tracheids biometrics along radial direction and chemical analysis in order to encourage the use of new forest species for pulp production in southern Brazil. Axial tracheids anatomical analysis was held in 3 positions, in the pith-periphery direction.

Propagação assexuada de Cupressus lusitanica

open access: yesPesquisa Florestal Brasileira, 2010
The objective was to evaluate the induction of epicormic shoots in strains and techniques of cutting, grafting and minicutting for Cupressus lusitanica cloning. For cutting, concentrations of IBA and substrates in plants of 5 and 10 years of age were tested. In minicutting evaluated the type of propagules. Grafting seedlings of trees 10 years as grafts

Chromium Recovery from Chromium-Loaded Cupressus lusitanica Bark in Two-Stage Desorption Processes

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) contamination poses serious health and environmental risks. Chromium biosorption has been employed as an effective means of eradicating Cr(VI) contamination. However, research on chromium desorption from chromium-loaded biosorbents is scarce despite its importance in facilitating industrial-scale chromium biosorption.

Lumber Recovery Rate of Cupressus lusitanica in Arsi Forest Enterprise, Ethiopia

open access: yesSustainability, 2023
In Ethiopia, sawmills have poor capacity utilization primarily due to the outdated equipment that resulted in a low recovery rate and the production of a high amount of wastage. The lumber recovery rate is the output (lumber) of a log in the sawing process.

Effect of extractives on conferred and natural durability of Cupressus lusitanica heartwood [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Forest Science, 2010
Identification of extractives present in Cupressus lusitanica heartwood has been conducted using GC-MS analyses. The chromatogram of toluene/ethanol extracts indicated the presence of large amounts of benzaldehyde and numerous terpenic compounds such as cedrol, agathadiol, epimanool, bornyl acetate, α-cedrene and β-cedrene.* The effect of these ...

Cell growth and nutrient uptake by cell suspensions of Cupressus lusitanica

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 2003
Conditions for cell growth of suspension cultures of Cupressus lusitanica, which has high β-thujaplicin productivity, were studied. The medium that provided the highest growth rate was IS-1 medium (pH 5.5), modified from Gamborg B5 medium containing 32 mM of total nitrogen. Its NO3-N/NH4-N ratio was 30 : 2.
