The Curie temperature of thin ferromagnetic films

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2009
The thickness-dependent Curie temperature T(c)(d) of thin ferromagnetic films is calculated within the molecular field approximation ('Weiss mean field') of the Heisenberg model. Two higher mean field theories are applied to obtain a quantitative improvement of the results: the Oguchi cluster method and the 'constant coupling approximation' (CCA ...

Demonstrating the Curie temperature in the classroom

Physics Education, 2018
Abstract Recent GCSE and IGCSE specifications include reference to both permanent and induced magnetism, giving the opportunity for novel classroom demonstrations based on ferromagnetism and paramagnetism, and the transition between these phases.

Anisotropic Curie Temperature

Journal of Applied Physics, 1961
In an anisotropic ferromagnet the Curie temperature is a function of the direction of the magnetization. The Curie temperature is high in easy directions, and can drop quite low in harder directions for large ratio of anisotropy to exchange energy. Magnetization curves as a function of temperature also depend upon the orientation.

On the anomaly of NiS2 at the Curie temperature

Physics Letters A, 1978
Abstract Neutron diffraction measurements were made on powder and single crystal samples from 5 K up to 40 K with particular care near the Curie temperature (= 30 K). Both samples showed at T c an abrupt decrease in the temperature variation of the intensity of the antiferromagnetic reflection (200) corresponding to the first kind of ordering of ...

Effects of impurities in the Curie temperature

Physics Letters A, 1971
Abstract The effect of impurities on the Ruderman-Kittel indirect exchange interactionis shown to lead to a linear decrease of the Curie temperature as a function of the electron life-time.

Impurity effects on the Curie temperature

Physics Letters A, 1971
Abstract Several alternative approaches to the problem of ferromagnetism in a material with impurities are discussed. They will lead to a linear dependence of the Curie temperature on concentration.
