Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Curing of epoxydiane resins by modified hardener of amine type [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper presents the results of a comprehensive study of changes in the properties of filmforming compositions based on epoxydiane oligomer. Curing was carried out by a modified hardener.

Degree of conversion of dual-cure resins light-cured through glass-fiber posts.

open access: yesAmerican journal of dentistry, 2011
To evaluate the degree of conversion (DC) of dual-curing materials used to lute glass-fiber posts in a simulated root canal polymerized by two different modalities.Artificial root canals were used to simulate a clinical condition to lute 45 posts by three different dual curing luting cements (Calibra, Multilink Automix and Variolink II). Two light cure

Light-cured or chemically cured orthodontic adhesive resins? A selection based on the degree of cure, monomer leaching, and cytotoxicity

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2005
The purpose of this study was to estimate the degree of cure and monomer leaching of a light-cured and a chemically cured (no-mix) adhesive and to assess their biologic properties. The degree of cure of adhesive specimens prepared with a procedure identical to the clinical bonding process was assessed by infrared spectroscopy.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

evaluation of the effect of temperature and time on the conversion factor of acrylic resin denture base material [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Rafidain Dental Journal, 2011
The aims of this study were to evaluate the effect of change in time ,temperature (increase or decrease) on the degree of conversion and residual monomer release of the vertex heat cured acrylic resin.

An adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system to model the uniaxial compressive strength of cemented hydraulic backfill [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose. The purpose of this paper is to develop the models for predicting the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of cemented hydraulic backfill (CHB), a widely used technique for filling underground voids created by mining operations as it provides ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
