Theoretical and experimental considerations of the critical current density of DI-BiSCCO superconducting tapes as a function of magnetic field, field orientation, temperature and strain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The critical current density (Jc) of DI-BiSCCO superconducting tapes was measured as a function of magnetic field (B), field orientation (θ), temperature (T) and strain (e) in a 15 T split-pair horizontal superconducting magnet using probes designed and ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A comprehensive study on flash sintering of anatase and rutile polymorphs-containing titania nanopowder: Phase and microstructure development

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics
Flash sintering has proven to be a novel and cost-efficient technique that enables the successful processing of dissimilar materials. The present work investigated how sintering under electric field input progresses in commercial anatase (A) plus rutile (

High Temperature Oxidation of Nickel-based Cermet Coatings Composed of Al2O3 and TiO2 Nanosized Particles

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2014
New technological challenges in oil production require materials that can resist high temperature oxidation. In-Situ Combustion (ISC) oil production technique is a new method that uses injection of air and ignition techniques to reduce the viscosity of ...

Simple carbazole derivatives with mono/dimethoxyphenylacrylonitrile substituents as hole‐transporting materials: Performance studies in hybrid perovskite solar cells

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, 2021
Herein, we report the development of two new low‐cost 9‐(2‐ethylhexyl)‐9H‐carbazoles carrying the mono/dimethoxyphenyl substituted cyanovinylene units symmetrically at 3‐ and 6‐positions of the carbazole core (CZ1‐2), as potential hole‐transporting ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Pure dipole radiation via exact solution of Maxwell's equations with spherical source electric current density

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation, 2021
Magnetic loop antennas are valuable for low frequency radar and communications applications, especially for frequencies below 1 MHz. The present paper examines a possible new type of magnetic antenna which is based on a spherical distribution of source ...

Distorted Modeling of Density Currents

open access: yesCoastal Engineering 1972, 1972
The paper describes a method of choosing scales for the correct representation of convective spread in a hydraulic model involving densimetric phenomena. Although most prototype spreads are non-viscous in nature it is possible for small scale laboratory spreads to become affected by viscous influence when the spreading density front is remote from the ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
