MnI‐Functionalized Covalent Organic Framework as Efficient Electrocatalyst for CO2 Reduction in a Catholyte‐Free Zero‐Gap Electrolyzer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates the successful integration of a phenanthroline‐based 2D COF with MnI catalytic sites into a catholyte‐free membrane‐electrode‐assembly cell for CO2 electroreduction. The crystalline COF actively suppresses Mn⁰–Mn⁰ dimerization, achieving a turnover frequency of 617 h⁻¹ at 2.8 V (full‐cell potential), and enabling stable operation.

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Cryo‐EM of Rationally Designed Photosystem I Nanoassembly on Graphene Validates Orientation‐Driven Enhancement of Photocatalytic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The first cryo‐EM visualization and quantification of oriented Photosystem I (PSI) on single‐layer graphene is reported. Domain‐specific covalent anchoring of PSI, with the reducing side of the biophotocatalyst toward graphene, promotes three‐fold higher anodic photocurrent generation compared to a randomly physisorbed counterpart. This approach allows

Host‐Directed Biomaterials for Combatting Bloodstream Infections: From Macrocyclic Peptides to Immune‐Activating Cell Backpacks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bloodstream infections (BSI) are one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in both civilian and military populations. This paper summarizes recent progress in novel treatment strategies to manage BSI arising from both bacterial and fungal pathogens using molecules, particles, and materials to elicit host‐directed immunity.

Incorporating aligned carbon nanotube electrode arrays in organic thin-film transistors

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
We introduce a very simple technique to obtain aligned carbon nanotube arrays tested in organic thin-film transistors based on poly[2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylenevinylene] (MEH-PPV) as the organic semiconductor.

Photoswitching Conduction in Framework Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This mini‐review summarizes recent advances in state‐of‐the‐art proton and electron conduction in framework materials that can be remotely and reversibly switched on and off by light. It discusses the various photoswitching conduction mechanisms and the strategies employed to enhance photoswitched conductivity.

Subretinal injection of tissue plasminogen activator for submacular hemorrhage – When and how to do

open access: yesOman Journal of Ophthalmology
Submacular hemorrhage (SMH) causes irreversible loss of vision as it causes permanent anatomical and functional damage to photoreceptors. The various causes include polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, neovascular age-related macular degeneration, retinal ...
