Near-surface current shear measured by marine X-band radar
This paper presents a new method to measure the near-surface currents' vertical shear by marine X-band radar (MR). The data used here were acquired from R/V Roger Revelle during the Impact of Typhoons on the Ocean in the Pacific (ITOP) field campaign in ...

Measurement of Synchrophasors with Stand Alone Merging Units: A Preliminary Study
Power grids must be more and more capable of adapting to a range of sometimes rapidly fluctuating conditions, originating by both fast variations of absorbed and generated power, especially from renewable sources.

Current Issues in Antioxidant Measurement
The rationale and scope of the main issues of antioxidant measurement are presented, with basic definitions and terms in antioxidant research (such as reactive species and related antioxidative defenses, oxidative stress, and antioxidant activity and capacity) in a historical background.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Thin bonding wires temperature measurement using optical fiber sensors
In this work we demonstrate the use of optical fiber sensors to measure temperature in thin metallic bonding wires. Temperature was measured in copper wires with diameter of 0.10, 0.28, 0.60 and 0.70 mm and for different values of the driven electrical ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...
