Kevin Cox’s (2013) paper makes a strong case for a historical–geographical materialism, based in what he calls ‘classical Marxism’, as a better means to engage the world than critical realism. In demonstrating why this is so, he defends a Marxism that is caught in a trap much like that Nicos Poulantzas labelled ‘historicist’.

Abstract Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites of fungi which affect humans and other animals. There are over 300 mycotoxins currently known, and of these only a few have been studied well. Aflatoxin B1, the major member of aflatoxins and one of the most potent hepatocarcinogens known in nature, is the most well‐studied mycotoxin.

Preventive Paediatrics
Pertussis, or whooping cough, is a contagious acute respiratory infection caused by the bacterium Bordetella pertussis. Before the widespread immunization, pertussis was one of the most common infectious causes of morbidity and death. Despite widespread immunization, the pathogen continues to circulate in the population with cyclical outbreaks.

As on previous occasions this Institute meeting was held to discuss different aspects of the Admiralty Chart as described by the Hydrographer of the Navy and his assistants. Earlier meetings had led to the formation of a Chart Users’ Panel, drawn largely from the Merchant Navy, and members of the panel were present on this occasion.

It shows that the scope of the review of the current situation may differ widely from one company to another. Sometimes the review only addresses some of the components of PLM. Current situation of African trypanosomiasis
Acta Tropica, 1993African trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness) is fatal, if untreated, and occurs in 36 African countries, south of the Sahara, where some 50 million people are at risk of acquiring infection. In the absence of adequate control measures epidemics occur, which are costly and difficult to control.
