A Mechanism of Single Actuator Snakeboard Robot and its Curving Motion Generation
2018 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO), 2018This paper reports a new mechanism of a wheeled robot moving by the single actuator. This mechanism is inspired by the two-wheeled skateboard, or snakeboard. There, the control inputs are usually considered as the following three: the steering angles of the front and the rear wheels, and the torque for the rotor rotation.

Generalized Shooting Method for Analyzing Compliant Mechanisms With Curved Members
Journal of Mechanical Design, 2005We consider here a class of compliant mechanisms consisting of one or more flexible beams, the manipulation of which relies on the deflection of the flexible beams. As compared with traditional rigid-body mechanisms, compliant mechanisms have the advantages of no relative moving parts and thus involve no wear, backlash, noises, and lubrication.

Curves with Special Aesthetics Generated by an Original Mechanism
2018Our goal is to create artificial beauty by generating new plane figures—curves not known in Geometry. The paper deals with an original mechanism that generates curves featuring special aesthetic properties. The mechanism synthesis was achieved starting from relations known from Trigonometry for multiple arcs.

An algorithm to generate the transition curve of the planar four-bar mechanism
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1996The transition curve for the planar four-bar is an important prototype for the bifurcation curves attached to general (multi-parameter) motions of the plane. A key practical problem is to obtain a computer rendering of such curves. In this paper we describe an algorithm to obtain such a rendering for transition curves.

A Computational Technique to Generate Coupler Curve Equation of 6-bar Mechanism
2021In this paper, a computational technique to generate the equation of coupler point for a prescribed 6-bar, 1-DOF Watt-I mechanism has been described. All the dimensional parameters of the prescribed mechanism, including link length along with orientation, are known.

Application of natural equations to the synthesis of curve generating mechanisms
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1992Abstract In this paper, the coupler curve of the planar four-link mechanism is expressed using the natural equation in the form of a single-value function, κ = g(s). Here κ is the curvature of the coupler curve and s is the arc length. The natural equation of the desired curve κ = f(s) is given by means of the spline function.

Synthesis of a mechanism with a flexibly attached slider for space curve generation
Mechanism and Machine Theory, 1980Abstract Generation of space curves is rather a difficult problem and not much work is reported in the literature. Planar 4-bar mechanisms with rigid links have been investigated for plane curve generation but the methods reported are complex.

Synthesis of Path Generating Compliant Mechanisms Using Initially Curved Frame Elements
Journal of Mechanical Design, 2006Initially curved frame elements are used in this paper within an optimization-based framework for the systematic synthesis of compliant mechanisms (CMs) that can trace nonlinear paths. These elements exhibit a significantly wider range of mechanical responses to applied loads than the initially straight frame elements, which have been widely used in ...

Synthesis of Path Generation Compliant Mechanisms Using Variable Width Spline Curves
Volume 4A: Dynamics, Vibration, and Control, 2014Path generation is to guide a point tracing a prescribed path. Compliant mechanisms (CMs) have been synthesized for path generation mechanisms. In this paper, each connection in a synthesized CM is represented as a variable width spline curve and the entire synthesized CM is modeled as a set of variable width spline curves.

An Efficient Method for Synthesizing Crank-Rocker Mechanisms for Generating Low Harmonic Curves
Volume 7: 33rd Mechanisms and Robotics Conference, Parts A and B, 2009This paper deals with the development of an efficient method for synthesizing crank-rocker mechanisms that are capable of generating perceptually simple and smooth paths that can be approximated by the first and second harmonics of Fourier series. Through the harmonic analysis of the loop closure equations of the crank-rocker mechanism, analytical ...
