Curve reconstruction based on an interval B-spline curve

Visual Computer, 2005
Curve reconstruction that generates a piece of centric curve from a piece of planar strip-shaped point cloud is a fundamental problem in reverse engineering. In this paper, we present a new curve-reconstruction algorithm based on an interval B-spline curve.

Uncalibrated reconstruction of curved surfaces

Image and Vision Computing, 1999
In this article, we show that even if the camera is uncalibrated and its translational motion is unknown, curved surfaces can be reconstructed from their apparent contours up to a 3D affine ambiguity. Further, we show that even if the reconstruction is non-metric (non-Euclidean), we can still extract useful information from the reconstruction for many ...

Stereo reconstruction of 3D curves

Proceedings 15th International Conference on Pattern Recognition. ICPR-2000, 2002
Presents a method, based on curve evolution, for the reconstruction of a 3D curve from two different projections. Given two views of some 3D curve, we propose to recover the curve minimizing an energy functional. Following the work on geodesic active contour by Caselles et al.

Curved contours and surface reconstruction

Proceedings 1992 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2003
The observation of curved contours in image sequences is used in egomotion estimation and in surface reconstruction. An egomotion technique that can be applied when no point or straight line correspondences are available is presented. It generalizes egomotion to the case of arbitrarily shaped contours, which is especially valuable in the case of ...

Curve reconstruction in the presence of noise

Computer Graphics, Imaging and Visualisation (CGIV 2007), 2007
In this paper we propose a heuristic for the reconstruction of a planar curve from a noisy sample. This is based on an earlier scheme we had proposed for reconstructing a curve from a noise-free sample, based on the relative neighbourhood graph. We also report on the performance of our heuristic on a variety of noisy samples.
