3D curvelet transforms and astronomical data restoration
The authors extend the curvelet transform from 2D to 3D. They propose two new decompositions, the BeamCurvelet and the RidCurvelet. The authors show that these new 3D transforms are useful for different applications such as filament detection, 3D cosmological data denoising and inpainting.

Active Seismic Exploration of Planetary Subsurfaces via Compressive Sensing
Abstract Geophysical measurements, such as seismic experiments, are a key target for scientific activities on planetary surfaces. Dense spatial sampling of such measurements is often desirable, and acquisition is traditionally performed at regular intervals.

Multimodal Biometrics: A Review of Handcrafted and AI–Based Fusion Approaches
As security threats continue to evolve, multimodal biometric recognition systems (MBRSs) have emerged as robust solutions for reliable user authentication. To the best of our knowledge, this study presents the first systematic literature review (SLR) specifically focused on MBRS based on physiological traits, combining traditional image processing ...

An integrated scheme to improve pan-sharpening visual quality of satellite images
Pan-sharpening is the process to fuse a low-resolution multispectral (MS) image with a high-resolution panchromatic (Pan) image to construct high spatial and spectral resolution MS image.

Continuous Curvelet Transform: II. Discretization and Frames [PDF]
We develop a unifying perspective on several decompositions exhibiting directional parabolic scaling. In each decomposition, the individual atoms are highly anisotropic at fine scales, with effective support obeying the parabolic scaling principle length

Detection and Characterisation of Atypical Harmonic Patterns in Big Power Quality Data
This paper proposes a new algorithm to identify and assess properties of atypical harmonic patterns in long‐term monitoring data adaptively. The well‐known challenges of field application, such as data accuracy validation, missing data handling, adaptability to dynamic data nature (seasonality and trends), and data mining results interpretation, are ...

Multi-focus Image Fusion Using Curvelet Transform [PDF]
Curvelet transform is a new muiti-scale geometic analysis, which has the characteristics of anisotropy. It is more suitable for the analysis of image curve edge characteristics than wavelet. Thus, in this paper it is applied to multi-focus image fusion, and used fusion rules that suitable for the characteristics of multi-focus image fusion.

Sparse representation for restoring images by exploiting topological structure of graph of patches
To elevate sparse representation learning, this study leverages a graph learning model to delineate similarity relationships among image patches, utilizing this model for the initial image reconstruction phase. To capitalize on inter‐patch relationships while preserving individual patch characteristics, low‐rank constraints are integrated during the ...
