Associations between transformational leadership, occupational stress and emotional exhaustion in UK veterinary professionals: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Occupational stress and burnout are prevalent concerns within the UK veterinary profession. Within the job demands–resources (JD‐R) framework, occupational stress represents a job demand linked to emotional exhaustion (EE), while transformational leadership (TL) may function as an organisational resource.

APTNet: A Condition‐Sensitive Modulation Framework for Surface Pressure Prediction on Supersonic Aircraft

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accurate surface‐pressure prediction over broad operating envelopes is critical for supersonic aerodynamic analysis and design. To overcome the bottlenecks of traditional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in real‐time performance and computational efficiency, data‐driven deep learning methods have emerged. However, existing data‐driven models

Uncovering hidden bias in neutron diffraction residual strain measurements

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that diffraction‐based residual strain calculations and uncertainty estimates depend on how grain populations are sub‐sampled, with important implications for interpreting residual stresses in heterogeneous materials with fine‐scale microstructure and strain gradients. When calculating residual strain via neutron or X‐ray ...

Demographic buffering in natural populations: A multi‐level perspective

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
We introduce a multi‐level framework that unites stochastic elasticities with nonlinear selection to test demographic buffering. Applying it across mammals reveals a key insight: ecological robustness to variability often decouples from evolutionary constraint, reshaping how we understand resilience under environmental stochasticity.

Too Much of a Good Thing? Striking a Balance Between Research Environment Inputs and Research Output Quality in UK Business Schools

open access: yesBritish Journal of Management, EarlyView.
Abstract The UK's Research Excellence Framework (REF) is one of the world's most established performance‐based research funding systems, shaping universities’ strategic choices. While the REF emphasizes investing in research inputs to enhance output quality, the investments in research environment inputs can, at some point, become counterproductive and

Fundamental problems for a weakened infinite plate by a curvilinear hole in a half-plane

open access: yes, 2008
Complex variable method (Cauchy integral method) has been applied to derive exact and closed expressions of Goursat functions for the first and second fundamental problems for an infinite plate weakened by a curvilinear hole.

The Coloniality of Data: Police Databases and the Rationalization of Surveillance from Colonial Vietnam to the Modern Carceral State

open access: yesThe British Journal of Sociology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Tracing the early adoption of computer gang databases by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and the Los Angeles Police Department in the 1980s to the deployment of computationally‐assisted surveillance during the Vietnam War, this paper uses a genealogical approach to compare surveillance technologies developed across the arc of ...

Hormone Replacement Therapy Uptake and Discontinuation Trends From 1996‐2023: An Observational Study of the Welsh Population

open access: yesBJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics &Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To analyse prescribing trends for oral and transdermal hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in Wales from 1996 to 2023, including predictors of discontinuation within one year of initiation. Design Observational study using the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) databank.

Determinants of case outcomes in Rwanda's postgenocide gacaca courts

open access: yesCriminology, EarlyView.
Abstract Transitional justice trials have become a central mechanism for addressing mass violence and human rights violations, yet little is known about the determinants of case outcomes within these courts—particularly in domestic contexts. This study examines Rwanda's gacaca courts, a localized transitional justice system that tried people suspected ...

Matrix computer analysis of curvilinear grid systems

open access: yes, 1967
A general equilibrium-stiffness method of matrix structural analysis was adapted and applied to the solution of the member end forces and moments of each of the members in a curvilinear structural grid system.
