A structural, functional and molecular analysis of plastids of the holoparasites Cuscuta reflexa and Cuscuta europaea

Planta, 1990
In the plastids of Cuscuta reflexa the number of thylakoids is strongly reduced compared with true chloroplasts and no typical grana are visible. The plastids of Cuscuta europaea lack thylakoids and the stroma is filled with either starch grains or lipid droplets.

Soluble phenolic constituents from Cuscuta reflexa and Cuscuta platyloba

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1995
Abstract Phytochemical analysis of the phanerogamic parasites C. reflexa and C. platyloba yielded characteristic patterns of soluble phenolic constituents. Whereas C. reflexa contained mainly caffeic acid depsides, C. platyloba was characterized by the accumulation of flavonoids of the flavonol-type.
