Quasi Cusp Singularities

Journal of Singularities, 2015
Summary: We obtain a list of all simple classes of singularities of function germs with respect to the quasi cusp equivalence relation. We discuss its connection with the singularities of Lagrangian projections in presence of a cuspidal edge. We also describe the bifurcation diagrams and caustics of simple quasi cusp singularities.

Following Cusps

International Journal of Computer Vision, 1997
It is known that the deformation of the apparent contours of a surface under perspective projection and viewer motion enable the recovery of the geometry of the surface, for example by utilising the epipolar parametrization. These methods break down with apparent contours that are singular i.e., with cusps .

Multiple cusp bifurcations

Neural Networks, 1998
The cusp bifurcation provides one of the simplest routes leading to bistability and hysteresis in neuron dynamics. We show that weakly connected networks of neurons near cusp bifurcations that satisfy a certain adaptation condition have quite interesting and complicated dynamics. First, we prove that any such network can be transformed into a canonical

Polar Cusp Dynamics

Journal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, 1985
The position of dayside aurora (as measured from South Pole station in 1980) is compared with the interplanetary magnetic field Bz component and to the AE index. The results are consistent with our earlier work showing a close relationship with AE and little correlation with Bz.

Cusps or no cusps—that is not the question

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1979
SummaryCurrent views of the significance of cusps to oral health range from an emphasis on meticulous recusping of the restored teeth to a recommendation of gradual prophylactic elimination of natural cusps by grinding.Cusps, their morphology and mutual arrangement are associated with masticatory function.
