Counted Data CUSUM's

Technometrics, 1985
Cumulative Sum (CUSUM) control schemes are widely used in industry for process and measurement control. Most CUSUM applications have been for continuous variables. There have been fewer uses of CUSUM control schemes when the response is a count such as the number of defects per unit or the occurrence of an accident.

New CUSUM and Shewhart‐CUSUM charts for monitoring the process mean

Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2021
AbstractThe CUmulative SUM (CUSUM) charts have sensitive nature against small and moderate shifts that occur in the process parameter(s). In this article, we propose the CUSUM and combined Shewhart‐CUSUM charts for monitoring the process mean using the best linear unbiased estimator of the location parameter based on ordered double‐ranked set sampling (

New CUSUM and dual CUSUM mean charts

Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2020
AbstractThe CUSUM (C) charts are well recognized as a potentially advanced process monitoring tools because of their sensitivity against small and moderate shifts. In this paper, we first improve the sensitivity of the Brownian motion–based C (BC) chart with an appropriate transformation, named new BC (NBC) chart, for monitoring moderate and large ...

The Local Power of the CUSUM and CUSUM of Squares Tests

Econometric Theory, 1990
We consider the local power of the cusum and cusum of squares tests for structural change in the linear regression model. We show that the local power of the cusum of squares test equals its size for a wide class of structural changes, as compared to a nontrivial local power for the cusum test.

The Cusum Test with Ols Residuals

Econometrica, 1992
Summary: We show that the CUSUM test of the stability over time of the coefficients of a linear regression model, which is usually based on recursive residuals, can also be applied to ordinary least squares residuals. We derive the limiting null distribution of the resulting test and compare its local power to that of the standard procedure.

An enhanced adaptive CUSUM control chart

open access: yesIIE Transactions, 2009
Adaptive CUSUM charts, referred to as ACUSUM charts, have attracted considerable attention from the research community. By adjusting the reference parameter k dynamically, an ACUSUM chart may achieve a better performance over a range of mean shifts than ...

A GENERAL CLASS OF CUSUM STATISTICS

Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences, 2015
Much of the work relating to control charts is on monitoring observations for changes in mean. Here, for the first time, we develop a class of cusum-type statistics to monitoranyaspect of a process (for example, mean, variance, skewness or kurtosis). This development is based on recently published papers by the authors.

An evaluation of cusum analysis in asthma

British Journal of Diseases of the Chest, 1980
It has been claimed that cusum analysis may be a clearer way of expressing trends in serial peak flow (PF) measurements in asthma than visual inspection of peak flow charts. To assess this we have applied cusum analysis to serial PF measurements in patients receiving various forms of treatment for airflow obstruction.

Troubleshooting web sessions with CUSUM

2015 International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC), 2015
A variety of factors may lead users to a poor quality of experience in a web browsing session, experiencing a high page load time. Without a clear explanation this can be annoying. In this paper, we present a novel algorithm and a whole redesigned architecture to provide an answer to the question “what's wrong with this web site?”.

Monitoring Warranty Claims With Cusums

Technometrics, 2012
Manufacturers monitor products in field use with respect to the quality and reliability of their performance, and warranty claims data are one valuable source of information. Updated warranty claims data are examined periodically by manufacturers, and formal monitoring procedures are a useful adjunct that can help identify emerging problems.
