Use of Binary Cumulative Sums and Moving Averages in Nosocomial Infection Cluster Detection

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2002
Clusters of nosocomial infection often occur undetected, at substantial cost to the medical system and individual patients. We evaluated binary cumulative sum (CUSUM) and moving average (MA) control charts for automated detection of nosocomial clusters ...

Evaluation of a rapid method for measuring lactate in the venous blood of ruminants

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background In cattle and small ruminants, blood lactate can predict recovery and survival in various diseases. Increased lactate concentration is associated with an unfavourable‐to‐poor prognosis. Different mobile rapid lactate measurement devices have been explored in different animal species.

Aplicação individual e combinada dos gráficos de controle Shewhart e CUSUM: uma aplicação no setor metal mecânico Individual and combined application of CUSUM and Shewhart control charts: an application in the metalworking sector

Design of Variance CUSUM

open access: yesKorean Journal of Applied Statistics, 2009
Abstract We suggest a fast and accurate algorithm to compute ARLs of CUSUM chart for controling process variance. The algorithm solves the characteristic integral equations of CUSUM chart (for controling variance). Thealgorithm is directly applicable for the cases of odd sample sizes.

Monitoring panels of sparse functional data

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
Panels of random functions are common in applications of functional data analysis. They often occur when sequences of functions are observed at a number of different locations. We propose a methodology to monitor for structural breaks in such panels and to identify the changing components with statistical certainty.

CUSUM charts in the quality control of colon cancer lymph node analysis: a population-registry study

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2018
Background The most important determinant of survival in patients with colon cancer is the presence or absence of regional lymph node metastases. This factor is consistently associated with long-term and disease-specific survival. Cumulative summation of

Change Point Analysis for Functional Data Using Empirical Characteristic Functionals

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We develop a new method to detect change points in the distribution of functional data based on integrated CUSUM processes of empirical characteristic functionals. Asymptotic results are presented under conditions allowing for low‐order moments and serial dependence in the data establishing the limiting null‐distribution of the proposed test ...

Reproducible Econometric Research. A Critical Review of the State of the Art. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Recent software developments are reviewed from the vantage point of reproducible econometric research. We argue that the emergence of new tools, particularly in the open-source community, have greatly eased the burden of documenting and archiving both ...

Tests for Changes in Count Time Series Models With Exogenous Covariates

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We deal with a parametric change in models for count time series with exogenous covariates specified via the conditional distribution, i.e., with integer generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedastic models with covariates (INGARCH‐X).
