Seasonal survey of the composition and degradation state of particulate organic matter in the Rhône River using lipid tracers [PDF]
International audienceLipid tracers including fatty acids, hydroxyacids, n-alkanols, sterols and triterpenoids were used to determine the origin and fate of suspended particulate organic matter (POM) collected in the Rhône River (France).

Genetic control of cuticular wax compounds inEucalyptus globulus [PDF]
SummaryPlant cuticular wax compounds perform functions that are essential for the survival of terrestrial plants. Despite their importance, the genetic control of these compounds is poorly understood outside of model taxa. Here we investigate the genetic basis of variation in cuticular compounds inEucalyptus globulususing quantitative genetic and ...

Identifying Cytokine Motif‐Containing, Immunomodulatory Bacterial Proteins in Human Gut Microbiome
By building and constructing HMM (Upper left, blue), the authors identify CMCPs in bacteria genomes and CRC related metagenomes and enriched CRC‐related CMCPs (Upper right, blue). They analyze sequence and structural similarity of hits (Lower left, green), test function with engineered EcN delivered to tumors in a mouse tumor model (Lower right, pink ...

A novel class of sticky peel and light green mutations causes cuticle deficiency in leaves and fruits of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) [PDF]
The plant cuticle consists of aliphatic wax and cutin, and covers all the aerial tissues, conferring resistance to both biotic and abiotic stresses. In this study, we performed phenotypic characterizations of tomato mutants having both sticky peel (pe ...

Mapping of the eibi1 gene responsible for the drought hypersensitive cuticle in wild barley (Hordeum spontaneum) [PDF]
Segregation analysis showed that eibi1, a drought hypersensitive Cuticle wild barley mutant, was monogenic and recessive, and mapped in two F, Populations, one made from a cross between the mutant and a Cultivated barley (cv.

The BnTFL1‐BnJAM3‐BnSWEETs Module Orchestrates Seed Storage Reserve Accumulation in Brassica napus
BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 form a complex that facilitates the transport of soluble sugars from the seed coat to the embryo by directly activating the expression of BnSWEETs. Furthermore, BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 work cooperatively to promote soluble sugar and oil production while suppressing protein deposition.

MYB94 and MYB96 Additively Activate Cuticular Wax Biosynthesis in Arabidopsis [PDF]
Aerial plant surfaces are coated by a cuticular wax layer to protect against environmental stresses, such as desiccation. In this study, we investigated the functional relationship between MYB94 and MYB96 transcription factors involved in cuticular wax biosynthesis.
