ABSTRACTThe cuticle, an extracellular hydrophobic layer impregnated with waxy lipids, serves as the primary interface between plant leaves and their environment and is thus subject to external cues. A previous study on poplar leaves revealed that environmental conditions outdoors promoted the deposition of about 10‐fold more cuticular wax compared to ...

Development and Quality of Barley Husk Adhesion Correlates With Changes in Caryopsis Cuticle Biosynthesis and Composition [PDF]
The caryopses of barley become firmly adhered to the husk during grain development through a cuticular cementing layer on the caryopsis surface. The degree of this attachment varies among cultivars, with poor quality adhesion causing “skinning”, an ...

ABSTRACT Chemical communication, typically based on feces, urine, and glandular secretions, often deposited as substrate scent marks, plays a key role in social organization and communication among many mammals, especially carnivores. This study assesses experimentally whether the type of substrate chosen for fecal deposition and the temperature ...

Composition of the Cuticular Waxes ofPicea abies andP. sitchensis
The chemical compositions of the cuticular lipids of the needles of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and Sitka spruce (P. sitchensis) (Bong.) Carr.) were investigated by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. Fractionation of the wax extracts was carried out using column chromatography.
