Yield Loads of Slabs With Reinforced Cutouts

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1957
Abstract A method of computing upper and lower bounds on the carrying capacity of a plane slab with a reinforced cutout is presented. The slab is subjected to a uniaxial load which is either uniform or applied by means of a perfectly rigid clamp.

Analysis of Composite-Reinforced Cutouts and Cracks

AIAA Journal, 1974
Finite element computer analyses of the reinforcement of cutouts and cracks in metal sheet by bonded overlays of composite material are described. The analyses articulate the separate responses of the sheet, the overlays, and the adhesive. Contour plots of computed stress and strain fields are automatically generated by the computer programs.

Efficient Video Cutout by Paint Selection

Journal of Computer Science and Technology, 2015
Video cutout refers to extracting moving objects from videos, which is an important step in many video editing tasks. Recent algorithms have limitations in terms of efficiency, interaction style, and robustness. This paper presents a novel method for progressive video cutout with less user interaction and fast feedback.

Stencil Cutouts for Virtual Reality Inputs

Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Computer and Automation Engineering, 2017
Virtual Reality (VR) is widely used in training simulators of dangerous or expensive vehicles such as aircraft or heavy mining machinery. The vehicles often have very complicated controls that users need to master before attempting to operate a real world version of the machine.

Background Cutout with Automatic Object Discovery

2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007
We present a novel approach to background cutout for image editing. We show how background cutout can be achieved without any user labeling. This is in contrast to current methods, where the user needs to label each image separately. Our method uses automatic object discovery methods to provide location and scale estimates of the object of interest ...

Cutout reinforcement of stiffened cylindrical shells

19th Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, 1978
A study was carried out to determine the optimum placement and volume of a reinforcing frame around a cutout in an axially loaded stringer and ring and stringer stiffened cylindrical shell. The problem was analyzed using the linear bifurcation portion of STAGS (Structural Analysis of General Shells).

Elliptical Cutouts in Cylindrical Shells

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1975
The stress concentrations due to an elliptical cutout in a shallow cylindrical shell are determined by means of a system of singular integral equations, solved numerically. Three loading conditions are considered: tension, torsion, and internal pressure.

On Reinforced Circular Cutouts

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1953
Abstract A slab with a circular cutout is subjected to stresses in the plane of the slab. The cutout has removed material which would have participated in carrying the load; hence the slab with cutout will fail under the application of stresses which the complete slab could have supported.

Random Fractals Generated by Random Cutouts

Mathematische Nachrichten, 1984
From the \(R^ N\) an independent sequence of stationary random open sets is ''cutted out''. There are given conditions on these ''cutouts'' under which the Hausdorff Besicovitch dimension of the random remainder set of the \(R^ N\) can be computed. These conditions force a very weak variant of ''random similarity'' between the cutouts.
