In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

A Theoretical Study on the use of Passive Soil Resistance in Winch Anchor Design [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
This paper describes work being carried out to determine the length and depth of a cutting blade required to support a rescue vehicle fitted with a winch. Analytical work described relates mostly to the suitability of blade used.

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Convergence Study of Minimizing the Nonconvex Total Delay Using the Lane-Based Optimization Method for Signal-Controlled Junctions

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2012
This paper presents a 2D convergence density criterion for minimizing the total junction delay at isolated junctions in the lane-based optimization framework.

The Analytic Center Cutting Plane Method with Semidefinite Cuts

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Optimization, 2003
Summary: We analyze an analytic center cutting plane algorithm for convex feasibility problems with semidefinite cuts. The problem of interest seeks a feasible point in a bounded convex set, which contains a full-dimensional ball with radius \(\varepsilon

Solving Variational Inequalities Defined on A Domain with Infinitely Many Linear Constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We study a variational inequality problem whose domain is defined by infinitely many linear inequalities. A discretization method and an analytic center based inexact cutting plane method are proposed. Under proper assumptions, the convergence results

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Multiple Cuts in the Analytic Center Cutting Plane Method

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Optimization, 2000
Summary: We analyze the multiple cut generation scheme in the analytic center cutting plane method. We propose an optimal primal and dual updating direction when the cuts are central. The direction is optimal in the sense that it maximizes the product of the new dual slacks and of the new primal variables within the trust regions defined by Dikin's ...

Partial Differential Equations for 3D Data Compression and Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper describes a PDE-based method for 3D reconstruction of surface patches. The PDE method is exploited using data obtained from standard 3D scanners.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...
